Old fashioned TV in the Hi-Def Age

4:11 PM Tue, Jan 01, 2008 |

The federal government has an offer for television viewers who aren't interested in spending big bucks on a high definition set and still use rooftop antennas or rabbit-ears. You may now apply for $40 coupons toward the purchase of a digital converter box. The boxes are estimated to cost $50 to $70 each and will allow you to use your old television to receive digital signals. The boxes would only be necessary for viewers who do NOT have cable or satellite service or have an extra television not hooked up to cable or the dish. This is important because on February 18, 2009 television stations will stop broadcasting their analog signals. To request a coupon online go to www.dtv2009.gov or call 1-888-388-2009. It takes less than five minutes to apply. You may apply for one or two coupons. The converter boxes are expected to be available by the middle of February. The coupons expire after 90 days so you might want to wait until closer to February '09 to decide whether you want to stick with the old technology.

Dear kmov i think that if the government won'ts
to change the way we watch TV.they should give
the boxes out for free.Their are people out there who can't afford the box even with the coupon

P.S thank you for your time
