In the St. Louis District there are 89 levees (39 in Missouri and 50 in Illinois). So far the U.S. Corps of Engineers has completed in depth inspections of 9 of the levees and ruled that they were all deficient. The group sighted problems like risk of failure. A representative with the Corps of Engineers says they do have plans to fix the levees and are waiting for the funding to come through so that they can fix any issues as soon as possible. As for the other 80 levees, they can not go through the in depth inspections until congress gives approval. Do you have any thoughts on the issue?
