When Metro began tunneling behind the 1200 block of Buck Avenue in Richmond Heights to build the cross county extension, homeowners along the stretch say the track hoes used to break up the bedrock, also broke up their foundations. I remember hearing about the damage right after the tunneling began in 2004, and took a camera into the area, I saw the heavy equipment pounding away at the bedrock. Today a lawsuit was filed against Metro by these homeowners. Homeowner Joe Valli showed me huge cracks in his foundation...and described an "earthquake-like" feel as the track hoe tore through the bedrock. He says he contacted Metro and was told his damage was just part of the settling process, and is "his" problem. He wants Metro to accept responsibility, and compensate him for the damage. I spoke to two other homeowners who talked about cracks in they're property as well. News 4 contacted Metro about the lawsuit and Metro says they have yet to see the suit but they do not comment on pending litigation. Read more and watch my report by clicking here. |
