News 4 has received several emails from viewers about motorcycle gangs terrorizing drivers on roadways throughout the area. We've covered several stories, including one in Soulard. One thing a driver said was the logo some of the bikers were wearing looked like Streetfighterz. So I contacted that stunt team. Co-founder, James Vaughn, agreed to talk with me. We both agreed something needed to be done to make it clear what Streetfighterz is and isn't. Vaughn admits the stunts they pull in the streets are illegal. But he says they only do street stunts a few times a month for filming purposes. He says his six member team has nothing to do with the thugs that are out there throwing rocks and kicking in cars. He says Streetfighterz is about stunts and selling merchandise and videos of those stunts. That's where the problem comes in. Some of Streetfighterz followers could be wearing team gear while out playing thug. To be fair, Vaughn can't control that. Vaughn says he and the team were in Atlanta when the Soulard attack happened. Unfortunately, a few poser street bike riders throwing rocks makes the whole group look bad. It's that old saying, guilt by association. |
