News Four learned today Maryland Heights police and Federal Immigration and Customs enforcement agents have broken up a counterfeit green card ring. It's unclear at this point how long this ring had been operating, but so far 19 arrests have been made. I was suprised today to find the "green card" operation was going on in a very quiet corner of Chesterfield, an apartment on Rialto Drive. Neighbors tell me they had no idea, but did see alot of traffic going in to and out of the apartment. Police seized printers and evidence today used to manufacture green cards, social security cards and driver's licenses. I've learned these fake documents can go for anywhere from $40 dollars to $100 dollars each. We are expected to learn more about the operation after U. S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway holds a news conference tommorow. Maryland Heights police uncovered the counterfeit document ring months ago, and then brought the feds in to assist in the investigation. |
