Who could have possibly predicted last night's nail-biter against Missouri? Not me, or anyone who cared enough to make a prediction.

Predictions, statistics, and scouting reports are all thrown out the window when it comes to the Border War. The only thing you know for sure is that the game will get ugly at some point, because everyone wants to win so badly.

Not even the most loyal MU fan would have predicted that Matt Lawrence would come away with 19 points against Brandon Rush, one of the Big 12's best defenders. Before scoring in the K-State game, Lawrence went eighty minutes without a basket.

No one would have predicted that two freshmen would win the game for the hawks. I would have thought Rush would be the go-to-guy. But it was Darrell Arthur who put the hawks up by one, and Sherron Collins who put the game away. If those two didn't understand what the Border War was all about, they know now.

And who would have thought I'd be thanking Mike Anderson the day after the big scare? I'm still excited after last night's fast-paced game, and grateful that I witnessed 25 minutes of hell, instead of 40.

Coach Self said it best after the game last night, "This rivalry's about to get spiced up a lot."
