Virginia

Okay..Breathe, Virginia.

I have put this off because I know this will not be easy to write. In fact, I have been in denial the last three weeks because as soon as I think about Marc leaving, I break.

You always hear the word "chemistry" thrown around in the TV news business. The anchors either have it or they don't. You can't fake it.

I don't call what Marc and I have together on air "chemistry." I call it friendship, trust, pure joy and loyalty. Four years ago, when they moved me from the field to the anchor desk we didn't really know each other. Sure, I had worked on the morning show for more than two years but we never really saw each other.

In fact, the bosses were concerned because they said we didn't have chemistry. So they moved me to a desk next to Marc's so we could get to know each other. Well, it worked.

We are so comfortable together and have so much fun. When one of us is not "feeling it" that day, the other steps it up and puts us back in the game.
Something eventful in my life isn't legit until I tell Marc.

Marc is the most helpful, patient and understanding guy in this whole station. He was able to show me the ropes and not one time did he make me feel small or ignorant.
Remember, he's been anchoring this show for more than 14 years..He's seen it all, yet he always takes the time to help.
I've NEVER heard anyone speak negatively of Marc. And that is unheard of in this business.

He is so talented and intelligent. I feel privileged to have been able to be by his side each morning for the last four years.
Friday is his last day. I'm not sure how this will play out but it sure will hurt.

I met Marc and his wife at a restaurant one evening and he is every bit as personal live as he is on tv! yes he will be missed and I hope he is moving onto bigger and better things!! Good luck to you to Virginia, you bring a freshness to the morning news and I am sure you will continue to have a great career! (I follow you on twitter and you were great over summer keeping me up with baseball scores!)
Best regards to you and Marc

Whatever caused KMOV to decide to move Marc from the anchor desk? It is a BIG MISTAKE!!! Awake needs Marc. He is the glue that holds the show together. I don't know what is going to happen to the show without him. I hope maybe the powers that be will see they are wrong to take Marc away from the news desk. WOW what are they thinking?? I guess time will tell. I will miss the caliber of reporting that Marc brings to the show. The character his obviously has is a breath of fresh air in the news industry.
YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED MARC COX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoy watching your spirit, Virginia, and I wish you the best. However, this combination of changes does not sit well with me...the dealbreaker if you will.

Paul left, I hope all on his on. (although, me thinks he may have seen some writing on the wall, and didn't like the direction this was going)

I'm assuming, although I haven't seen anything mentioned anywhere, that Christina is getting bumped as well.

Much like I stopped watching Ch-4 on the 5 o'clock after the sports was dropped recently, Friday will be my last day watching the morning show, nothing personal towards you at all.

Nothing against anybody new coming in either. I just don't like people getting yanked out, and the people that luck into that spot because of it.

It's among the only way that we, as viewers, can vote where it counts.

I guess I will have to change my morning newscast...

Simply ridiculous to move Marc from the anchor desk. Years ago I "voted" to have Virginia moved in and up. I don't know whose decision it was to make Mark a reporter, but it's a bad one as far as I'm concerned. He is truly a "personality" and it was trusting to tune in early in the morning and hear his reassuring voice. I'm afraid I won't get the chance to even hear him as a reporter because I will be switching over to 5! Hello Jennifer and Art! You people just don't get it...

Thomas said:

My God why on earth would your top people get rid of MARC COX. Now I'll have to go back to 5 two the nut heads that can not talk or stop laughing long enough to get the news out ....

Where did Marc go? and Where did the traffic guy go tooooooooooooooooooooooo... what is wrong with KMOV NOW? Too many changes ARE NOT GOOD !!!

a leaving viewer... what a shame.

I am afraid that I agree with the others. The new format is terrible. Without pointing fingers, the 2 newbies do NOT fit. If there is not something done VERY soon, my family will join the exodus.

I'm not sure exactly what the execs at Channel 4 are thinking ... obviously, they did not give this decision about Marc a lot of thought. I have given the new "look" a couple of days ... I am thinking that my next action will also be to say "Hello" to Art and Jennifer. The new kid on the block just doesn't cut it, and Robin Smith with traffic was a total fiasco. I'm not really sure why all the changes are being made, but I believe it is time for me to also make a change. I have watched Channel 4 in the morning for years, but I believe a "switch" may be in order. I will truly miss "Matt" and "Virginia" ... the rest, not so much.

Marc Cox is gone, and so am I. So long KMOV.

What happened? I missed hearing about it. I have watched him in the mornings for a long time. He and Virginia are outstanding together. Was he moved to a reporter position at KMOV?

Poor Marc. He was such a good man. I hope his family is doing OK. Really makes a guy think about his own mortality.

Conni Butler said:

Sorry about Marc leaving. He was really the star of the morning news show. Nothing against Virginia or the new guy, but without Marc, the Awake thing will most likely tank. If this move was voluntary, well, good for Marc and too bad for Channel 4. We'll probably be changing our morning choice for the news.

Anne said:

If Marc is gone, so am I. Whatever market strategy response this is, please rethink it. He made the morning news. I'm switching channels.

Spend 3 to 4 days traveling, some how missed the info on Marc departing. Won't need to worry about missing anything eles on 4 in morning. The click you just heard was may TV going to channel 5.

Jill said:

Wow, you miss 2 mornings and life completely changes as we know it...I had no idea he was leaving and I feel like I lost my morning coffee partner...I love Virginia...when she leaves, I will but man, Marc, Dude...you are very missed... Hope you were in on this decision and it was made in your favor...they should let us vote you back....oh, I miss Paul too but at least I can hear his insanity on the radio...oh, and I love you, Matt...I am sad over this...

DB said:

I'm surprised how un-welcoming folks are to the new anchor - they decide to bail without even giving him a chance. Seems a bit unfair to me, particularly since we don't have all the facts as to why Marc is no longer the anchor. I liked him a lot, but I'm at least willing to give John a try, which is more than I can say for everyone else.

John Evans said:

..... it's not a matter of giving the new guy a chance or not it's more "Why try to "fix" something that isn't broken"

Channel 4 had one of the freshest, personable morning shows out there and with all the "forced" changes they have "forced" their avid followers to make a decision as well - when prior to this we were happy with the format and the team.

Stupid decisions by stupid people without so much as any focus groups or research is my qualified understanding of these decisions by the incompetent and inadequate decision makers at KMOV.

Much like many of those who have responded and the '000's that haven't my TV has been switched to 5 in the morning as well.

Debbie said:

Even though I am not happy with the changes in the morning show, we may be missing that there are personal reasons for the changes that we do not really need to know or the personalities are not comfortable with the public being a part of yet. Robin Smith has been an asset to KMOV where ever she is asked to work and I am looking forward to watching the relationships grow even though I have enjoyed and respected Marc Cox through out his work as the morning show anchor. I wish him the best!

Marc, you made us all proud, over the years in the anchor desk, What are you gonna do that you're leaving the anchor desk, right now.

Thanks again to all of you who have commented. I am now in my second week of reporting, Monday - Friday for the 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. I do miss anchoring in the mornings, but my re-assignment at least guarantees more sleep! Marc
