This is Paul Cook's last week. He has decided to leave because the daily grind of waking up at 4 in the morning to do the traffic reports and also work a full shift at Y98 is just too much for him and his young family.

I completely understand, but I am very sad. As much as you guys may think he says whatever he wants, he actually holds back a lot on the air.
When Paul comes in the studio there is an automatic energy boost in the room. He is hysterical. Stomach hurting, eyes watering laughter is not unusual when Paul is around.
But not only is he funny, he is a very sweet and understanding friend.
I never really aporeciated this side of him until I read his book about his personal addiction to drugs and alcohol. His role as a father, husband, friend and broadcaster is truly inspiring.
We will be talking about his Friday departure this week. I hope you will watch.
We love you, Paulie!
Sorry to see Paul leaving the morning show. I enjoy the engery he brings to the broadcast. I watch Awake every morning while getting ready for work and I listen to Paul every afternoon driving home. I have often wondered how he maintains that schedule. Being Daddy is the most important job in the world and I wish Paul all the best!
hey Paul
good luck to you... you were a joy to listen to and watch in the early morning hours...all the best to you..
sharyn
I will miss Paul Cook as he brings so much joy and laughter to the show. There is such a great togetherness on your morning program and Paul definitely brings the crew together.
GOOD LUCK and know you are the greatest!
Patti
Paul,
I will miss you so much. Things will not be the same without you. I love the humor and craziness that you have added to the early morning for many years. I'll stay in touch on Y98.
P.S. Tell Matt that he needs a Mizzou cup on the set. I'm tird of seeing only the UK and Alabama mugs. Represent Missouri.
Thanks.
Thanks for the info. You all do a very nice job. Worthy choice by Paul. Glad he can do. Wish business conditions were stronger for you and us all.
I am devistated that Paul Cook is leaving! He brings so much energy to the show. My daughter and I met him at his book signing at the Barnes and Noble at Cross Keys shopping center. He was so genuine and caring. He will be missed in the morning, but I will still catch him on my ride home from work on Y98.
Thanks for everything you do to make my day a little brighter!
Paul will be missed! I think the Awake crew are great together! Good luck Paul, I listen to you everyday on Y98 on my drive home in the afternoon. Enjoy your time with your family!
Paul will be missed by us watching and I'm sure the rest of the crew. I enjoy listening to the news in the morning because the crew makes it enjoyable. I will say that I do not listen to Y-98 but I'm sure your focus there will be a positive one. Good luck with the path you have chosen and raising your family, they grow so quickly. Much success and best wishes...
I am going to really miss Paul. I looked forward to start my day with him. If I fealt down he always put a smile on my face and made my day so much better. What am I going to do for my morning pick-me-up. Even though I am very sad for us, I am happy for him and his family and only wish them the best. Good luck Paul
Dear Paul,
I am truly going to miss your smiling face in the mornings. I wake up very early everyday (mostly) and start my morning off.
Now, as much as you will be missed, I wish you all the best my friend.
Take Care, Donna
Did your truthful book do you in and the execs decided to let you go?
Will listen on 98 for you!
Hey, Paul
I Watching you on television for a couple of years, and i see you do instant traffic, every morning, and i know is sad to see you go, and i just wanna say, personally, paul, Good Luck to you & you will always be the greatest!
Thanks!
My husband and I made the switch to KMOV from KSDK several months ago. We listen to the news while we are getting ready for work. Paul Cook is a large part of why we enjoy KMOV... his sarcastic/dry sense of humor and random comments add so much to the show. We are going to miss him...
I look forward to seeing Paul in the mornings. His unique style is awesome! He will be missed
I will really miss Paul in the mornings, he brings so much to the morning news show. When he has been on vacation in the past you could tell the difference -- the show isn't as upbeat. Good luck in all that you do Paul and all the best to you and your family (children are the most important things in your life)
WOW, these comments are so kind. I can't believe it. THIS is such a wonderful way to go out. I really do love channel 4 - they made me a better broadcaster. But mostly I love the viewers of channel 4. I will cut and paste these comments to some file and I'll keep them forever.
It has truly been my honor to be here every morning and thank you for always allowing me to be myself. I assure you this is strictly a descision made for FAMILY. But there will be some sadness to leave Virginia, Marc and Matt who have been like family to me, seriously. They are really what you see - great people.
Sincerely,
Paul
Aw...Paul. I do understand why you are leaving, but you are going to be dearly missed. Not only were you the helpful traffic guy, but you were also the comedian of the group. I wish you the best with Y98, and go watch your kids grow. You dont want to miss out on that.
Best Wishes.
I will miss Paul...it will not be the same watching without him. He is what makes the morning team may favorite to watch. WE WILL MISS YOU!!!
Sorry that Paul is leaving....who will do the traffic? I like that KMOV gives the traffic every 10 minutes in the morning, and I especially enjoy Paul Cook as the "traffic guy" with his high energy delivery and all around cheerful disposition. Plus KMOV seems to give the most coverage to traffic which is a big reason why I watch in the morning since I have a long commute.
Good luck Paul-wish you weren't leaving.
Gee whiz, partner,
they finally got a well-balanced team
of excellent miss-fits (the four of you)
and now you pull the finger out of the wall...!!
You are doing the right thing, but it sucks.
You are terriffic- you could have been a Marine !
Thanks, Bob
paul you r a inspiration to me and my family and we all love you
You will be missed Paul. I enjoyed listening to you in the morning for I am a new comer to channel 4 and I know that the morning won't be the same without you. Good luck on your new journey!
Paul,
I know you are doing the right thing, but I will miss you terribly. I watch Awake every morning because all of you make news, weather and traffic fun! I've tried watching other morning shows, but they are all boring and staid next to Awake. Watching you work together is like watching family -- it's apparent you care about each other, as well as your viewers. You will be sorely missed, Paul. God bless you and your family.
Paul, you will definitely be missed. I have enjoyed your personality, filled with genuine humor, excitement, enthusiasm, and wit. There is no doubt that you will be superb at whatever career decision you make. I am also confident that you are a super father. Time has a way of leaving us too soon. I am sure that you will be satisfied with your decision to make this time for fatherhood. I will miss you and may God continue to bless you and your family in all of your endeavors. Thank you for all that you have given!!!!
Hello Virginia;
I am really sorry to see Paul leave. I watch him every morning as I get ready for work. I was just wondering what is the name of the book that Paul wrote and if it available to the public. It kinda hit home as my daughter is going thru somewhat of the same. I totally understand if you can't release the information.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I will miss you SO much! You're sense of humour always made me smile. Best of luck and take care. You will be missed!
I can't tell you how much I enjoy the Channel 4 morning show and Paul has so much to do with that. My favorite memories stem around Virginia laughing so hard she's crying because Paul is being his goofy self. I love how they all 'try' to remain professional while laughing at his antics.
And while I'll miss Paul a bunch, I still love the remaining crew and will continue to be a avid Channel 4 morning show viewer.
Paul, I wish you all the best in whatever you chose to do with your mornings and if it's just getting the kids up and ready for school, I know you'll entertain your kids just as much as you've entertained us. God bless you and your family!
Paul--Our family enjoys your light-hearted approach. You offer a comedic twist to the traffic and a big reason that we watch KMOV. Your little ones will only be small but once. Enjoy them as they grow. I am sure that you will flourish and enjoy all of the opportunities that are surely to come your way. We will miss you, but of course can still get our fix on Y98 in the afternoons. Best of luck.
good luck Paul. I love your traffic reports in the morning.
Thanks for everything
Paul: You will be missed...more than you know. I switched from FOX to KMOV because of the energy, smiles, laughs and the focus to traffic that was provided by you and Matt too. I only hope KMOV management will bring someone in that is lively and funny... Congrats to you by knowing that your family comes first...management don't bring in a stiff...listen to the viewers we like the energy in the morning, the focus, the laughs, the fun that is/was brought by Paul, and the WHOLE TEAM.
Paul,
You were the caffeine in my morning. The high enery and the jokes will never be matched again. I will miss you in the morning but totally understand why you are leaving. I chose to stay at home when my children were small and I would not change a thing. Good luck to you in your future and by the way I loved your book.
Paul, you are wise to recognize that this is no dress rehearsal! Allow yourself to enjoy being a husband and father. You won't regret it! No one ever says, "I spent too much time with my family."
Good Luck and Best Wishes!
I don't even live in the city and couldn't care less about the traffic situation there, yet I always listen to the traffic report just to hear Paul's off-the-wall comments! You never know what he might say, and I love it! I enjoy all of "The Fab Four", but Monday morning when Virginia said that someone was leaving and didn't say who, I knew in my gut it was Paul. Yes, life will go on, but it won't be the same! Do enjoy the family, Paul, because it is true that time flies and in the blink of an eye, kids grow up.
Hey Paul-
We're really going to miss watching you every morning with the sound turned off. You always look dapper...except this week, you've slacked a little on your wardrobe. Enjoy sleeping in while some of us will continue to work the early hours because WE care about the St. Louis community. Now it's time to carry your weight at Y98.
The Phillips and Company Show minus Guy...he's on vacation.
Paul,
You will surely be missed. I do not know how you ever got away with calling Mark Cox "dude" on the air. You have a natural ability to bring excitement to traffic. If you reconsider, maybe Mark can share some of his fat salary with you. Besides, you have the beautiful Virginia Kerr to look at every morning. You will not have that at y-98. What about that bubbly Matt Chambers. You all made a great team. Please do not break that up for radio.
Johnny
Paul, I'm going to miss seeing you in the mornings. The four of you on Awake are a great team and I always need to see all of you to help me wake up each morning. I know this isn't good-bye because I'll still hear you afternoons on Y98. Good luck, sleep in and enjoy your family!
P.S.: Paul, I met you at the St.Louis Art Fair. I read your book and loved it.
Linda
I live in a rural area and the St. Louis traffic really does not effect me but I leave my TV on all night on channel 4 so I can enjoy the sillyness that is Paul Cook. You will leave a big hole in my mornings but I understand your reasons.
You have been a joy.
Paul, I am so sad that you're leaving! You are part of my morning "family" on KMOV. But I do understand your reason for leaving and respect and admire you for that. I'll miss your energy and wonderful sense of humor but I'll be listening on 98.1. Good luck and God bless.
God's richest blessings to you and your family, Paul. We WILL miss you. At least you will still be on the air in our St. Louis area!
Now then, Marc, Virginia and Matt, DON'T EVEN THINK OF GOING ANYWHERE ELSE!! You guys are the best TEAM in broadcasting in ANY area. Matt is doing a super job with Carol at 10 AM. Quite honestly, as good as Carol is, I didn't really watch every day (like I do now) when it first came on because I didn't really think the other gal was very good. I'm sure she is a lovely person; but TV was not her forte' (sp?). I love (and always have) Robin Smith. Oh, Kent, I like you too! Love the way you always squeeze in blips about us out here in the Westplex! This is home now; but I will always be a South County gal (
Affton '65). In fact EVERY one of the KMOV team is great. Whatever you do, this is for the execs, DO NOT EVER try to get the blonde lady from KSDK weather desk to join KMOV if there is ever an opening. I WILL definitely change the station. How does she talk without moving her lips?! She is probably a good person and bright; but I just cannot tolerate her. Again, the best to you Paul and to the rest of the ENTIRE team, keep up the good work and God's blessings to ALL of you!

Will truly miss Paul... Don't know if he was so wacky due to lack of sleep, it was simply his personality, or likely both, but he will be missed. Please be careful about the replacement-If your interested I might be available...
Will continue to listen to Y98 as you make my grueling drive home more enjoyable! Take care Paul! JR
I am going to miss you, good luck always!
Paul, I will definitely miss you in the mornings, but at least I have the comfort of knowing I can still hear you in the afternoons. Whoever KMOV gets to fill your position has some pretty big shoes to fill. Hope they have a fraction of your humor, otherwise, then will not fit in with the others. I have been a long time watcher of news 4 in the morning, I love the way everyone works together and how everyone's humor bounces off each other. You truly make my mornings better. Good luck Paul. I'll be listening!
I think that KMOV is treading on danerous ground by letting Paul Cook leave the Awake show. He was the energy that made you want to watch the show, he was the glue that was needed to make everyone else look good. Maybe when the ratings start going down, management will find the money they need to bring him back. This really shows the disregard management has for thier viewers.
Paul, I don't know how I am going to get ready in the morning without you!! You remind me so much of Robin Williams in the movie "Good Morning Viet Nam"! Only you could make the traffic report entertaining! Good luck...we will miss you!
Sorry to see you no longer at the desk after October 26th. What a loss for this station. Now, I will be switching viewing in the morning as well after watching for many years. I wish you the best...Oh, and I will miss Paul too in the morning. He was fun to watch.
I too am extremely sorry to see Marc go. Marc, Matt and Paul are truly like brothers to me. I hope you will at least give the new team a chance. Robin Smith and John Knicely will be joining Matt and me. -Virginia
Marc is leaving also????
Yes.

Well, if the truth be told Ms. Virginia, your sunny, funny self is plenty of reason to keep watching :)
WHERE is Marc going? I cannot believe the foursome if breaking up. I LOVE the a.m. group. The best to Paul - he is a breath of fresh air. And the best to Marc, if he is, in fact, leaving. I will miss him as well. I will give the new group a chance, but I just don't know . . .
I am not sure about Robin Smith and John Knicely
joining the morning team. They are NOTHING like Matt and Virginia!!!! The morning show seems to be falling apart!! I will continue to watch the 5 & 6 programs and look forward to Matt being on there BUT am NOT too sure about the morning show. I have watched your station for years and years!!!
