I saw the new movie World Trade Center yesterday. It comes out on August 9th but I caught a press screening.
It was extremely intense. I wasn't expecting it to affect me the way it did. It brought back all of the emotions and feelings that I felt on 9/11 but it also gave me a quick reality check that I think everyone can use.
I would have to say that Oliver Stone did a great job telling the story without sensationalizing it. The storyline is all based on the lives of two Port Authority police officers who were trapped inside the World Trade Center.
I don't have family or friends who were directly affected by the attacks so I can't say if it is too soon for people who were so close to the events. It is a reminder to all of us of how many heros were there during that crisis and how thoughtful and courageous people in our country can be. I think we forget that way too often.
I'm headed out to meet Oliver Stone, Nicholas Cage and the two police officers who inspired the movie today for a story.
I'll let you know what that was like when I get back.
