Angry Anchor

10:20 AM Wed, Jun 28, 2006 |
Virginia

No not me. I'm talking about a network anchor who went off on a guest on live television.
Check out the show down. Did she go too far?
I want to know what you think.

Not in my backyard

9:51 AM Tue, Jun 27, 2006 |
Virginia

I am having problems with these strange jumping worms in my yard. The other day after it rained there were thousands covering my entire landscape. My husband and I have sprayed just about every kind of bug killer we can find on them and they still keep jumping out of the ground like popcorn. We don't think they are termites. I am assuming they are maggots. Yeah, I know that's disgusting.
BUT it could be worse. Check out what's been cree...

Give em a break?

12:39 PM Mon, Jun 26, 2006 |

Matt Chambers is facing a serious high pressure system tonight - his parents are in town, expecting good weather for the Cardinals game this evening! Imagine what it must be like to be the Weather Guy (or Gal) at a public event to begin with. I get a little bit of this, when people mistake me for a meteorologist on occasion, but just think how often he takes grief if that morning's forecast is wrong! Here's a good article from Gainesville, Fl...

New Medium

12:22 PM Thu, Jun 22, 2006 |

Getting used to the blog - and remembering to post - is a challenge for those of us who are "Internet Immigrants." I borrow that term from Mark Smith, Director of the Career Center at Washington University. He describes young people - under 30 - as "Internet Natives", because they've grown up with computers and the internet. The rest of us are learning as we go, and sometimes it's a steep curve. My 8-year old was doing powerpoint presentat...

Hot as All Get Out

9:11 AM Wed, Jun 21, 2006 |
Virginia

First day of summer and I am ready for fall. You know it's going to be a scorcher when your car's temperature gauge reads 81 degrees at 3:45 in the morning. That's what it was on my way in today and that's what I call "hot as all get out."
I wanted to introduce you to two of our biggest News 4 Morning fans. Meet Carson and Dane.

Happy Dad's Day

12:43 PM Fri, Jun 16, 2006 |

On Sunday, remember Dad but don't go overboard. I can tell you personally I just want a quiet morning, a chance to read the paper, and maybe lunch at my favorite steakhouse. Just spending time with my kids will be a great reminder of what this life is really about, and what's important on a day to day basis. I think the "holiday" industry has done a great job over-hyping Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, etc., but it's all about being toge...

EYE OPENER

12:36 PM Thu, Jun 15, 2006 |

As a news reporter, I often think how lucky I am to be a witness to history. Not that I'm always on the scene, but news professionals are often to first people to find out about major stories. I suspect this will be one of those major stories: Terrorist Document
For months, the Bush Administration has been telling us U.S. Intelligence is gaining the upper hand on ins...

Boys And Their Toys

8:43 AM Wed, Jun 14, 2006 |
Virginia

I know women can get a little carried away when they go shopping. We like clothes, we like to look good, we can't help it. But when the men go to far they go waaay too far.
For example the other day my dear husband came home and told me that he just bought ME a new gift. "You'll really like it," he says.
Ladies that's a red flag when you hear that because that means he really bought HIMSELF a new toy.
He brought home a brand ...

TO THE MOON, ALICE!

11:38 AM Tue, Jun 13, 2006 |

I admit being a big fan of Jackie Gleason and The Honeymooners. But this is certainly not what Ralph had in mind when he talked about the moon!

Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking thinks we've got to go to the Moon, and maybe even Mars - in order to survive! Interesting reading.

Hollywood Stars in St. Louis

8:15 AM Tue, Jun 13, 2006 |
Virginia

So.. we got to hang out with a celebrity in the studio today. Fisher Stevens is in town producing a movie with Jessica Alba and Aaron Eckhart. Fisher's been in a few flicks, too. He was the goofy scientist in Short Circuit and he played Phoebe's boyfriend on Friends. He was also in a ton of other flicks. And he apparently used to date Michelle Phfiefer. Now he's doing the producing thing.

June?

12:19 PM Mon, Jun 12, 2006 |

The "Boyz" are really glad to have Virginia back! Who wants to look at the three of us all the time?

Regular viewers know I'm a huge fan of warm weather. For me, it means more time on my boat on the weekends, but this cold front is sort of freaky for early June. That's not the only reason things have seemed a bit out of sorts recently. If you've ever traveled to the Lake of the Ozarks on a Friday night, you know heavy traffic is jus...

Back from Vacation

9:08 AM Mon, Jun 12, 2006 |
Virginia

I'm back from Bama. I took a week off to see the family in Alabama, age another year (I turned 32!) and celebrate my first wedding anniversary.

Nathan and I couldn't go to Negril, Jamaica like we did when we got married last year. But we did get to watch and remember our ceremony and see us in...
