October 2005 Archives5 short months from now we'll be in the middle of March Madness! Basketball fans rejoice. My apologies to all Cubs fans, but a friend sent this today, claiming that Hades has now frozen over: Check out our website for some great photos of the Arch construction, and a story put together bac... October 28th. So it's time to "fall back" with our clocks. Don't forget when you go to sleep Saturday night to turn your clocks back one hour and check the batteries in your smoke detectors. Speaking of clocks and time.....have you checked out "Instant Traffic" with Paul? Sensors actually help you time your commute down to the minute. We can now know exactly how fast or slow traffic is moving, then Paul is able to pass that on ... We've been providing some great coverage of the dismantling of Busch Stadium. Here's another example taken by a friend of mine. If you haven't seen Instant Traffic - very cool! We can instantly tell you (hence the name!) how fast cars are travelling on area highways, and use that to calculate your drive time! Check it out with Paul Cook tomorrow on News 4 This Morning. Wow, what a surprise with the Sox/Houston series. I never would have guessed with Houston's pitching that this would have happened. Maybe Backe can salvage a win tonight. BOND D... It was nice to have a couple of days off last week. I see it was the "Man Show" for a few days. I'm sure the boys behaved (maybe not during the commercials breaks.) So on the way to work this morning, I saw dozens of red chairs outside of Busch Stadium. I feel pretty lucky that I was able to watch some Cardinals games there before it comes down. I didn't grow up there like so many people did, but once I moved here I got to a game as so... It's been the "Man Show" Thursday and Friday! That's a dangerous combination. Don't worry...Richelle is back from vacation on Monday. She reportedly needed several days to recover from the Cardinals' season-ending loss. :P Great reviews from Joe Williams of the Post today for "Good Night, and Good Luck." That's the Edward R. Murrow film, and Joe says it's a must see for students of "journalism, civics and cinema." Guess I need to ... Farewell, adios, thanks for the memories. As much as I hate to see the Cardinals lose, at least Houston is deserving of a shot at the World Series. I just can't bring myself to hate the Astros. If it was the Giants...or the Cubs, that's a different story! Congratulations, Astros. Marc >> Continue reading: RIP It's certainly for the best that Matt and Paul are separated by me and Marc because those two would get into so much trouble if they sat next to each other....like the teacher having to seperate the 2 class cut-ups. I'm sure you can tell by Matt's picture what happens when those two great minds come together. They're great guys and a true joy to be around. Let's hope Game 6 of the NLCS ends tonight in 9 quick innings so it doesn't get ... If you haven't picked up on it, Matt and Paul can absolutely bring the house down. This morning, it was the Cardinals visors at the end of the show -
By the way - the Cards won the last time they wore these! Go Cards! Marc I found a great picture from the Dallas Morning News that just sums up last night's great Cardinals victory (and how Astros fans are feeling this morning!):
If that Pujol's homer doesn't motivate this team to s... I have to admit a bit of gloom and doom around here for the Cardinals chances of making it to the Series. To blow it like that with two on in the 9th is just not fair. I feel good about their chances tonight though, and hopefully that will help them turn the momentum. Of course I want them to make the Series...but I also hate the idea of that wrecking ball tearing down Busch. I'm thrilled for the White Sox, but I'm told Cubs fans wil... The new James Bond actor is stirring some debate around here. I can't believe they're dumping Brosnan, who was born for the role. I think Daniel Craig is a little long in the tooth for a young Bond. This Cardinal situation has me worried. I think Miklasz summed it up well in the Post today -- two of our top hitters (Walker and Edmonds) continue to struggle, Sanders is questionable for Saturday, and we face the Rocket at home. Ugly. ... So I guess I'll admit it, I'll be sitting on the couch for about two days straight this weekend!! TELL THE TRUTH... YOU will too :-) There's football AND the NLCS. What's a girl to do except make sure the batteries in the remote work and fire up the TV? This is the time of year when Marc becomes "MAD MARC." Midnight Madness is tonight and Kentucky is off and running. To say Marc loves college basketball would be an understat... I work with the greatest folks!! When I came into work this morning, there were balloons on my desk and at the end of the newcast I had the most beautiful cake. Not a bad day for having to work on your birthday. I'm not really sure why these birthdays keep coming because I'm NOT getting any older :-)
