April 2007 ArchivesI'm going to keep this brief. That e-mail you were sent... that check that came unexpectedly in the mail... the foreign dignitary offering you a share of his millions in exchange for your help... NONE OF THEM ARE REAL. That's it. Just throw it out, delete it, ignore it. If you don't believe me, ask the folks at Phonebusters. They'll set you straight. ...The question of how to deal with juvenile sex offenders is a tricky one, with no easy answers. We knew that going into this, but we were still surprised at the number of calls and emails we began getting about our story before it even aired. Our story was sparked by the anguish and anger of a mother whose young daughter says she was repeatedly molested and assaulted by a 14 year-old boy. She was horrified to learn that if conv... Oh, man. I have rarely needed a weekend as much as I need this weekend. It's been a long week filled with just awful news out of Virginia, a huge pile of work staring me in the face, and the usual drama and trauma that comes from working in an office. Ah... and I haven't had a carbohydrate since Sunday night. So let's look ahead to happier days. The ...
Not only did they make a gargantuan gaffe yesterday afternoon... they fully committed to their act of gaffery. How did they do this? By sending not one... but two reporters to the Mizzou campus to report on a shooting that h... I just trolled through the Associated Press wires in my computer and found three instances of school shootings/bomb threats/campus lockdowns in the last five hours. They range from the genuine to the ridiculous. -- The University of Minnesota campus went into a panic when a threatening note was discovered in a bathroom. -- A North Carolina high school went on lockdown when a student brandished a gun in the parking lot. ... "The situation here for this kid looks to me to be a lot more fun than what he had under his old parents. There was an element here that this kid liked about his circumstance." --Bill O'Reilly Unless repeated rape and attempted murder is your idea of a good time... ...Downtown St. Louis hasn't seen this many guns since Washington Avenue lofts first went condo. Okay... bad joke. But more than 60,000 people are expected to show up for the National Rifle Association convention at America's Center.
hoser (hoz'er) Canadian slang. 1. noun: (deragatory) an oaf, or simpleton. 2. noun: (friendly) a friend, brother or faithful companion. 3. verb: hose-off; a put-off; go away, leave me; I doubt what you are saying. History: The term originates from a syndicated television comedy about a fictional television station: 'Second City Television Station' or 'SCTV.' Comed... We're on the road again... putting together stories you'll see in the next couple weeks. Where we are and what we're doing are top secret, of course. But we'd be downright rude if we didn't drop you a postcard from our travels.
That's my partner, Steve Harris, posing with his 35 pound baby. ...Let's say you're accused of sexually assaulting an 18 year-old girl. She says you lured her to a condo in the Ozarks, plied her with alcohol, teased her with dreams of $100,000 modeling contracts and fame beyond her modest eager central-Missouri beginnings. You put your hands on this child half your age, asked her to... I consume a lot of media... and a lot of different types of media. So it should come as no surprise I was listening to FOX News bombaster Bill O'Reilly's radio show yesterday morning. On most days, I find O'Reilly mildly entertaining. Occasionally he makes a good point. But yesterday I just wasn't seeing eye to eye with the man. Bill-O' spent the better part of two hours talking about >> Continue reading: Blow by blow with Bill-O' Since 1910, 11 sitting U.S. presidents have visited Cincinnati and thrown out the first pitch of the Reds season. This year, the honor went to... Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory. Yeah, that's what we though. Not only was Mallory a considerable step down from POTUS, his ceremonial first pitch was about 20 feet wide, and 15 feet short of home-plate. That... |
