January 2007 ArchivesAs a kid from the South Side of Chicago, there's no question where my loyalties lie in Sunday's Super Bowl XLI. In fact, there are number of us Chicago transplants working here in the News 4 megaplex... Producers Brad Brown and Bobby Cyphers, executive producers Scott Costa and Bill Siegel, meterologist Steve Templeton and photographer Rob Love. Which is why we're choking the in-house e-mail system sending around tastel...
It talks about the problem that kills more people than auto accidents, breast cancer, AIDS or homicides. Well, it's no big secret. That other television station's story is all about >> Continue reading: Hospital-acquired infection rates.
It involves parking a car out in the middle of a frozen lake and taking bets on when the car will fall through. Leave it to a televison news crew to take this game to a whole new level. Seriously, though..... It's been a long couple of weeks for those of us in the N4I unit. Photographer Steve Harris and I abandoned producer Steve Perron while we jetted from coast to coast. Some people in the newsroom think travel is one of the fun parts of the job... and it can be. But spending four of the last seven days on the road does not qualify as fun by any stretch of the imagination. Because we had so much work to do while travelling... Today's DB comes from N4I producer Steve Perron: As a member of the News 4 Investigates team, I like to think we focus on "big" stories. Sometimes the little ones prove just as interesting.

It's taken in front of the apartment building where he and Devlin lived. Second, a close-up of the same photo. Do you see the person reflected in the window? Does that bear any resemblance to the person in photo number three......
It was a bit past 4 p.m. when my cel phone showed an incoming call from a very reliable law enforcement source. As reliable as he is, I could not believe the words he was saying. Still, I scribbled on my notepad. "Ben found alive with Hornbeck" I hung up the phone and started walking downstairs to t... If this catches on, maybe Los Angeles will challenge St. Louis for a higher spot in the list of America's fattest cities. From the Los Angeles Times: The Dodgers are converting the right-field pavilio... Here is a reminder why those of us who work in television should never take ourselves too seriously. And it's the funniest thing I've seen on local television in a long time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0j0AJDpMD0 Props to our friends at CW11. ...Most of the perps appearing in St. Louis' division 25 courtroom were lucky if one person showed up to watch them make the walk from the holding area to the defense table. The walk lasts all of three seconds -- but when it's the only chance to breathe the same air as your gangbanging boyfriend, you make the most of what you can get. The accused would quickly scan the rows of benches and make contact with a friendly face. Mouthin... This kind of slipped through the cracks, what with it coming out on Friday afternoon before a three-day weekend and all... but here's some follow-up action for you. Last month, we told you about the Farmington, Mo. generator dealer under investigation for taking advantage of people in the days after the big ice storm. ... Last year, we here at the N4I:DB broke the blog barrier. Not to be out-done by my fellow kmov.com bloggers, we then blew the lid off of video blogging. Well, they're all jumping on that bandwagon, too. So much for exclusivity. Let's see if they can top this. The Daily Briefing MOBILE Video Blog. |
