March 2009 ArchivesIt's not easy being a working mom. It seems there are never enough hours in my day and my mind is constantly thinking about what I need to do next. I know all moms, not just working moms, feel that way. It's hard work being a mom... and that's an understatement! It's always hard to drop my son Jude off and go to work, but some days are worse than others. Today was one of the not so great days. Usually when I drop Jude off, it's so earl... Last Saturday was crazy! My friend Ashley (who, like me, is the mommy of a 5-month-old boy) and I went to this huge baby sale inside the gym of a local high school. When we decided to make the trek out to Edwardsville, IL for this big sale, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Rookie mistakes! The sale began at 8am so we thought getting there by 7:45 would give us plenty of time. Actually, we were worried we'd be too ear... I have been waiting and waiting to share this exciting piece of news with you. I guess I've been afraid to talk about it because I didn't want to jinx it. I mean, this has been the topic of the majority of my blogs and has been something I have been working at for quite some time. I just didn't want to speak too soon. Alright, I'll tell you... ...Last week my friend Holly and I and our babies (and husbands) were on Great Day St. Louis. Holly makes homemade baby food and was teaching me and Matt Chambers how to do it. So after my little crash course, my fellow mommy friend Ashley and I decided to get together to try making our own baby food. Ashley's son Landis is just 12 hours younger than my little boy Jude, so our kids are in the same stage as far as what they are allowed to eat. ...In case you missed it, my son Jude was on TV yesterday! He made a special guest appearance on Great Day St. Louis here on Channel 4. He did surprisingly well! I was so afraid that he was going to puke on someone or decide that it was potty time while the cameras were rolling, or start crying uncontrollably, but he didn't. He didn't even fuss. What a good baby! He was on his best behavior! Here's the clip from the show where Jude sat ho... Just wanted to pass along a decent deal on diapers this week at Walgreens. Look on the back page of their weekly ad and you'll find the details. Basically, if you buy $25 worth of certain products you'll get a coupon for $10 off your next Walgreens purchase. A couple things to consider.... As a mother of boys I assumed I'd find myself in the E.R. at some point. I figured it would be because my 3-year-old, Drew, had just jumped off of something and cracked his head open. Nope. My 11 month old, Sean, was the reason for this trip to the hospital. Sean had been spiking high fevers all day Saturday so we kept giving him Motrin. The fever and a runny nose were his only symptoms so we figured it was an ear infection. But ... I've been put through the Lisa Manzo school of parenting. Lisa, as I'm sure you all know, is a reporter here at News 4. She's the mother of a two-year-old and a teenager, a working mom whose work day begins around 2 am, and a former medical reporter. Needless to say, Lisa knows a lot and I pester her constantly with parenting and medical questions. I was talking to her recently about Jude's sleeping issues. Yes that's right, he'll be 5 months ... |
