September 2008 ArchivesI have six days left until my due date and I just want to take this opportunity to tell all of my co-workers, yes...I'm still here. Not only am I still here, but I will continue to show up to the newsroom everyday until my baby boy is born, unless my doctor says otherwise. The closer I get to D-day, the more people I have stop me on a daily basis and say, "Afton, you're still here?" or "When are you going to have that baby?" or "Any da... As I'm sure I have mentioned, several times, I have three good friends that are having babies around the same time as I am and we are all having little boys. It has been a very exciting week in my circle of friends. Two of the girls had their babies this week. I could not be more excited! Brody arrived on Monday night and Parker was born this morning. Both baby boys and both mommies are doing great. The arrival of my friends' b... We've learned my youngest son has plagiocephaly and will have to wear a helmet to re-shape his head. Pretty much, that means he has some flatness to his head.
It seems like yesterday that I gave birth to my beautiful little girl, Finnigan. My husband and I are hosting Finni's second birthday party on Saturday and a friend just said I had quite a scare last night, and in the midst of my pain I realized, I'm ready for this baby, but I'm not ready for this baby! Early yesterday evening I started to get some intense pain that would start in my lower back and then wrap around to my abdomen. The pain was so intense, I could hardly move and it would come and go in spurts. I called my mom and described what I was feeling and she said it sounded like contractions. So I s... Can I just say that my 2 1/2 year old keeps me on my toes? Thursday morning he locked me out of the house. It's the second time he's done it in as many months. I had just walked out to the mailbox, leaving Drew inside the house and Sean hanging out in his swing. As I was walking up to the door I heard a click and realized Drew had just set the deadbolt.
This morning I was watching the CBS Early Show and they had a report about BPA in plastics. Apparently you shouldn't use products, like baby bottles, that contain BPA. I had heard a little bit about this, but hadn't really heard a lot of moms talk about it. My doctors never mentioned it either. Plus, I guess I just figured that stores wouldn't sell bottles that weren't safe for babies. On Friday, I went on my final pre-baby shopping tr... The countdown is on! I only have 27 days until my due date and I'm really hoping I don't go past that. Not because I'm terribly miserable or uncomfortable, but because I just can't wait to meet my little boy. I can't wait to finally hold him and see who he looks like. I have a feeling he will look just like his dad! I'm down to just a few items on my "to-do-before-baby" list. I'm going on my final big shopping trip this week to get a f... We won the battle of the binky! Much to our surprise it was much easier than we expected to convince Drew that he did not need a binky at bedtime. We had been warning him for about a week that on Wednesday night he would not get a binky. When that night rolled around he asked for it, but seemed to understand when we told him he was a big boy and didn't need one now. We were prepared to let him cry and scream himself to sleep, but ...
It's time. Our 2 1/2 year old has got to lose his pacifier. I'm a little embarrassed to even admit it, but Drew still sleeps with a binky. Around the age of 1 we dropped the binky at naps... and that was pretty easy. But getting rid of the binky at night is going to be a whole different story. We were going to try several times but things just kept coming up. We were going out of town. I became pregnant with Sean and wanted Drew ... It was another productive weekend at the Spriggs' house. We got a ton of work done on our nursery. Things are really starting to take shape and I can almost see my little boy sleeping in his crib and relaxing in his swing. I can't wait! This weekend daddy (to be) assembled the changing table and the swing. He and my dad put the crib together a couple of weeks ago, so my husband was pretty confident that he could tackle the rest by hims... |
