The first free outdoor concert of the season is this week! I know it's not summer yet, but it's feeling like it, don't you think? If the weather cooperates, Friday night's party at Mandarin will be the place to be. What a fantastic rooftop patio they have! And as a Kentuckian, you know I'm not gonna miss the opportunity to celebrate the KY Derby. Be sure to check out the Derby Party at The Stable this weekend. Tuesday April 28:

Metropolis St. Louis-Wine Club. 6:30 to 8:30 pm at The Syndicate - 917 Olive Street. Sample California wines in a 16th floor, 3000 square foot, tri-level penthouse with a private rooftop deck. Each guest brings a bottle of nice California wine or a plate of appetizers to share. RSVP required by Monday, April 27 at 5pm. Missouri History Museum Twilight Tuesday Outdoor Concert Series: The Smash Band. North lawn of the Missouri History Museum from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Thursday April 30:

Dining Out For Life-This year more than 125 St. Louis area restaurants will donate some or all of their proceeds this day to Saint Louis Effort For AIDS.

Cocktails for a Cause, 5:30-8:30pm at Momo's Restaurant - 630 North & South Road. In support of Connections to Success featuring free appetizers, drink specials, attendance prizes and a belly dancing contest. Admission is $10 if you bring an accessory (necktie, trouser socks, hoisery, jewelry, purse, shoes, etc.) or $15 without an accessory to donate to CtS. Friday May 1:

Raise the Roof party at Mandarin, 44 Maryland Plaza. 8p-1:30a. Opening night celebration for the 2009 Summer Season.

Friday & Saturday May 1&2:

St. Louis Microfest. In the Forest Park Upper Muny Parking Lot. Your admission to a session of the Microfest includes a tasting glass - which allows you to visit brewery booths and sample dozens of beers - and listen to music by popular groups. You can also see cooking demonstrations and brewing discussions. Tickets $18 and up.

Friday May 1 - Sunday May 3:

Riverdance at The Fox Theatre in Grand Center. The internationally-acclaimed celebration of Irish music, song, and dance.

Saturday May 2:

Cinco de Mayo St. Louis on Cherokee Street between Nebraska and Iowa from 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Street celebration with authentic food and drinks, arts and crafts, and street entertainment.

Derby Party at the Stable, 1821 Cherokee St. at Noon. Mouse Races, Big hat contest for the ladies, Mint juleps and Kentucky hot browns all day long!

Crawfish Festival at Broadway Oyster Bar. 736 South Broadway.

15th annual Ultimate Picnic. The cruise theme will feature cocktails, dinner, music and auctions. Benefits Central Institute for the Deaf. CID now offers $75 tickets for young professionals (35 and under). For information, contact Bree DeGraw: 314/977-0163 or bdegraw@cid.edu.

Sunday May 3:

Wine-A-Roo. 1-5pm at Roxane, 12 North Meramec. Samplings of wine, art and exhibits, appetizers and entertainment. $20. Supports the American Cancer Society.

4th Annual Spring for Strays at Harry's Restaurant on Market Street. 2-6 pm. Live music, good food, silent auction and a female impersonator show. Well socialized dogs are welcomed. $10 at the door.

MS Society Sprink Kick-Off Bike Ride. Registration will begin at Noon, with the ride starting at 1 p.m. at Ghisallo Apparel and Bicycles at 161 Long Road in Chesterfield. Cyclists can ride a 25-mile or a 35- mile route. After the ride, everyone is invited to enjoy music, food and beverages while celebrating the kick-off to the cycling season.
