Are you a young St. Louisan who is passionate about community service, children and making our city a better place? Check out Young Variety, the young professionals group affiliated with Variety the Children's Charity of St. Louis . Young Variety is a group of volunteers, ages 21-40, who help over 20,000 local children with physical and mental disabilities reach their full potential each year. Variety focuses on four core areas to help kids from infancy to age 21 become healthy and independent:

1. Gifting medical equipment, like wheelchairs, for mobility and independence
2. Creating unique recreational and therapeutic programs
3. Funding 85 local partner programs
4. Raising awareness for children with disabilities in St. Louis

Young Variety hosts three premier fundraising events per year:
*Trivia Night in January
*Taste of the Vineyard (Wine Tasting and Silent Auction) in September
*Night of the Rising Stars (Cocktails, Live Music and Silent Auction) in April

Young Variety also hosts quarterly happy hours, which are a great time to mingle with present board members, staff, and area volunteers to learn about how you, too, can be involved with Variety and help these special children.

Young Variety's next event, Night of the Rising Stars, will take place at the Chase Park Plaza on Friday, April 24, 2009, at 7:30pm. Enjoy hors d'ouevres, complimentary Anheuser-Busch beverages, a silent auction and live music by Pleasure Groove. Tickets are $45 in advance/$50 at the door.
