Wow! So much is going on this week, how can you choose? There are clearly lots of Valentine's themed events but with Mardi Gras right around the corner, there are lots of Mardi Gras events too! I'm going to be checking out opening night of Spring Awakening Tuesday night, so expect to get a full report on Wednesday. I have no idea what to expect but I hear it's for mature audiences only. Hmmmmm. For details on the things I've mentioned and more, read on! Tuesday February 10: Fuel Valentine's Party at Sol Music Lounge (4241 Lindell Boulevard). Free appetizers and drink specials will be provided from 5:30 - 8PM. Singles and couples welcome! February 10-22: Spring Awakening at the Fox Theatre. Broadway's most talked about new musical is now the biggest Tony Award® winner in years. It is the groundbreaking fusion of morality, sexuality and rock 'n' roll that has awakened Broadway like no other musical in years. It celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with power, poignancy and passion. Beware: contains explicit sexual situations and graphic adult language. Tickets $25 and up. Wednesday February 11: Metropolis Trivia Night, 5:30PM - 9PM (Happy Hour: 5:30PM - 7PM; Trivia: 7PM - 9PM) @ The Firebird (2706 Olive Street). $5 Admission, includes food and drink specials. Thursday February 12: Plug in Party @ Lumen, 2201 Locust. 8pm-midnight. Proceeds benefit the American Heart Association and the fight against heart disease in St. Louis. Your $25 ticket includes appetizers, wine, beer and the night's signature drink-the cardio cocktail. Please bring a canned good with you to benefit a local food bank. Friday February 13: Art For The Heart, 5:30-9pm at Craft Alliance, 6640 Delmar Blvd. $30. Experience all of the studios and take home your artwork. Enjoy champagne, Italian cuisine, silent auction, raffle and special discounts. Mardi Gras Groove at Atomic Cowboy, 4140 Manchester, 7p-midnight. Get a crash course in Mardi Gras history and tradition at THE New Orleans-style Mardi Gras event! Tickets -$35 advance, $40 at the door and includes Lagniappe pack, beer tastings, gumbo, king cake and tarot card readings. Friday the Flirteenth, 8pm - 12am at Thaxton Speakeasy - 1009 Olive St. Enjoy drink specials, treats and DJs spinning all night. Saturday February 14: Singles for Slay 9pm to 12 am The Atomic Cowboy Le Cadeau Dinner auction featuring jazz artist Erin Bode. Live and silent auction, cocktail attire. Cocktail reception begins at 6:30pm followed by dinner at 7:30pm. Event will be at the Barat Academy Gymnasium with proceeds benefiting Barat Academy. Single Mingle at the Kemp Auto Museum, 16955 Chesterfield Airport Road from 7p-11pm. The event will feature many interesting ways to meet and greet other St. Louis singles, including a dance contest where you are "matched" with your partner before the dance begins, four rounds of speed dating and a photo booth. The event will also feature a raffle. $30 in advance and $40 at the door includes complimentary food and drink tickets. Naughti Gras 2, 7pm-1am at Koken Art Factory - 2500 Ohio Ave. Price: $5 Last year's event was a huge success with dozens of artists displaying their work to a crowd of 1,500 people. This is a daring art happening that will heat the night up with erotic art and performances. Free food and a cash bar will be available. Saturday Feb 14 & Sunday Feb 15: Taste Of Soulard, 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Several of Soulard's establishments will offer samples of their signature dishes in this unique, create your own experience event. Attendees use the seven taste tickets from the ticket booklet ($25) to sample six signature dishes and one taste of Southern Comfort from participating restaurants and pubs. Heated and enclosed trolleys are available for your convenience on Saturday at no additional cost. No trolleys on Sunday. Missouri Wine Fest at Westport Plaza, Indoor Pavilion, Noon - 5:00pm. Each participating winery will offer four of the best in Missouri wines for sampling. The entrance fee is $20.00, the purchase directly benefits The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Wine sampled at the event will also be sold by the bottle in the Pavilion, as well as food. Sunday February 15: Beggin' Strips Barkus Pet Parade. Thousands of four-legged friends and their owners will hit the streets of Soulard. It's one of the largest pet parades in the world and the place to be seen for pet owners as dogs and other lovable pets parade in their colorful Mardi Gras-themed costumes. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and the parade steps off at 1 p.m. from Allen and Menard. PetSmart Wiener Dog Derby, Soulard Market Park (8th and Lafayette) at 2pm. Dachshunds race in three divisions based on age: Cocktail Wienies, Ballpark Franks, and Hot Dogs. The finals are followed by the trophy presentation ceremony in the Wiener's Circle. $10.00 per Dachshund. Don't forget to sign up for my weekly newsletter, just click here!
