Now that the big Mardi Gras weekend is over, things are slowing down a bit. There's still quite an interesting selection to choose from this week. I'll be riding on one of the floats in the Fat Tuesday parade so I'll be sure to let you know how that goes. And although I've never been to the rodeo despite my southern roots, I'm going to check it out Friday night. I'll be sure to write about that one as well. Have a great week! Monday Feb. 23: Beer On The Bayou- 6:30PM at The Boathouse in Forest Park. Cajun cooking, Schlafly brew and live entertainment. $48 Tuesday Feb. 24: Metropolis Wine Club - French Wines on Fat Tuesday in Grand Center, 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Building, 501 N. Grand Blvd. Each guest will bring a bottle of French wine or a plate of appetizers to share. RSVP required by Monday, February 23 at 5pm at www.mstl.org. If you miss the deadline, email suzannemoak@yahoo.com to see if there is room available. Lumiere Place Fat Tuesday Parade, 7:30 pm. Celebrate the last call before Lent with a "Light Up the Night" Fat Tuesday Parade featuring premiere Krewes from the Mardi Gras festival. The beads will once again be flying as the Mardi Gras season enters its final hours. The parade begins at Broadway and Washington then heads south to Kiener Plaza. Thursday Feb. 26: Metromix Girls' Night Out: 6-10 pm at the Premium Lounge, 4199 Manchester. Drink specials all night including $5 martinis, complimentary appetizers buffet from 6-8pm and gift bags for the first 150 attendees. Shop jewelry, purses, accessories and more from some of your favorite local artists. Friday Feb. 27: Go Red for Women Luncheon, 9:00 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. at the Ritz Carlton. This luncheon will give women the opportunity to attend educational sessions about how they can start being heart-healthy for themselves and their families. Women will also have the opportunity to be motivated by keynote speaker, humorist Kathleen Passanisi, over a heart healthy lunch. Wear red! For information on table sponsorships, please call the American Heart Association at 314-692-5624. 4th Annual St. Louis Blues Festival: 8 p.m at Chaifetz Arena. Artists scheduled to appear include Mel Waiters, Sir Charles Jones, Bobby Rush, J. Blackfoot, Shirley Brown and Willie Clayton. Fri Feb 27-Sunday March 1: Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series, Scottrade Center- 1401 Clark Ave. February 27 : 8 p.m., February 28 : 6:50 p.m., and March 1 : 2 p.m. $10-100 The top 45 bull riders in the world will compete for the coveted Enterprise Rent-A-Car Invitational title, the 12th event on the prestigious tour. Saturday Feb. 28: Chamber Project St. Louis presents American Graffiti concert. Meramec campus of St. Louis Community College at 3pm, free. Chamber music is a type of classical music performed by a smaller group...so it's an intimate and un-stuffy performance. Missouri Botanical Garden-Trivia Night - Garden Style at The Missouri Botanical Garden. Presented by the Young Friends of the Garden - Doors open at 6p.m., trivia starts at 7p.m. - Orchid Show open until 9 p.m. - $200 for a table of 10. Cash prizes. Complimentary beer provided by Schlafly Beer, and hors d'oeuvres will be served. A cash bar will be available. Battle @ Blu at Blu CitySpaces -210 N 17th St. from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Guests will be entered into a raffle for a chance to be one of six lucky winners to take on Josh Brown of the St. Louis Rams and Erik Johnson of the St. Louis Blues in a Wii Challenge.
