My apologies for getting this posted a little late this week. You might have noticed I haven't been on the air the last few days. I've picked up a bit of a bug and am blogging from home. There are lots of events to choose from this week and many of them center around Mardi Gras. I didn't make it last year, but I'm going this year (at least for a few hours before I have to go to work)! I'll be sure to blog about my experience and include some pictures. River City Professionals Networking Happy Hour. 5:30-9pm at Autohaus BMW (3015 Hanley). Wednesday Feb. 18: Cocktails For A Cause at Jake's Steaks (708 N. 2nd St.), 6-8pm. With your $10 donations to the St. Louis Public Library Foundation, you will receive complimentart Miller Lite. Friday Feb 20: Third Friday Open House at The Third Degree Glass Factory. 6 -10pm, free. Glass activities and entertainment, glassblowing and flameworking demonstrations, glass art by Third Degree artists for sale in the HotShop Gift Gallery, live music and art exhibits in the Third Degree East Gallery. Cash bar. Soulard Social Aid and Pleasure Club's Subterranean Ball. 7:30 p.m at the South Broadway Athletic Club - 2301 S. 7th St. There is a Wood Stock Music Festival costume theme along with a costume contest with prizes and music from Mack's Creek. Food will be provided as well as a cash bar. $10 in advance $15 at the door. For details call 314-420-9702 Mystic Green Mardi Gras Ball at the Casa Loma Ballroom. Doors open at 7:30pm. Cajun & Zydeco style music from 8pm-midnight. Mardi Gras costume contest to crown the Mystic Green King & Queen. $12 The Mayor's Ball at City Hall, 7pm This event helps support many St. Louis beautification initatives. The party features a catered dinner, open bar and live entertainment. Valet parking is also provided. Tickets $100 and up. Grape Arts Kick-Off event at Kitchen K, 1000 Washington Ave., 6pm. Appetizers and wine will be provided. Artists will be on hand to create artworks that they will be donating for the Grape Arts fund raiser on March 22. The Lumiere Place Grand Parade is at 11am. The Bud Light Party Tent is from 9am-8pm. The Rolling Rock Area 33 will feature music from 1:30-7:15pm. Sunday Feb. 22: Oscar Night America Benefit. Walk the red carpet at Cinema St. Louis' annual benefit at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Clayton. 6-10:30PM.
