March 2009 ArchivesI have heard some folks in the media referencing this Mizzou hoops team as the best in school history. Let's hold on a minute and think this through. Yes, the Tigers won a school record 31 games but teams today play five or six or seven more games per season than Norm Stewart's teams did. And although this club made an impressive run to the Elite 8, it finished third in the Big 12 in the regular season. Yes, winning the conference tour... Would you like to be Mizzou AD Mike Alden? He just watches his basketball team lose a gut wrencher in the Elite 8 and less than 48 hours later, he's scrambling to find enough money to keep Mike Anderson in Columbia. Not an easy sale in these days of economic hardship. That said, I'm betting that Anderson will get enough of a bump to keep him away from Georgia or Memphis. Mizzou fans are turned back on and can put the Quinn Snyder era o... It's becoming apparent that Torry Holt has played his last game in a Rams uniform. That's a shame. But, that's business. Torry understands that. He's still got plenty to offer a team and I wish him nothing but the best. Some at Rams Park last season wanted you to believe that Torry's attitude had gone south. Please. If Torry wasn't his usual upbeat self it's an indication of how fouled up the Rams had become. I've know Torry well--we... Anybody else tired of the way NFL quarterbacks have to be coddled and protected for fear of damaging their psyche? Give me a break. You think Vince Lombardi never got after Bart Starr? I guarantee you that Bill Parcells would unload on Phil Simms. And Chuck Noll would challenge Terry Bradshaw publicly. All three of those QB's won Super Bowls and had great careers. Football is the ultimate team game and a QB is the leader of that team.... |
