October 2008 ArchivesTwelve quarters into the Jim Haslett experiment, the Rams are a completely different team. For two weeks, they did something the Scott Linehan-led team could not--win. Yesterday, they also did something that those old Rams couldn't do---lose without being emabarrassed. I have to walk a fine line here and not insult Haslett's competitve nature by declaring Sunday's game a moral victory. There is no such thing in the NFL. The stakes are... It is a startling turnaround. From 0-4 and non-competitive in September to 2-0 and tough as nails in October. And the Rams have done the 180 with the same personnel. I don't want to gulp the Kool-Aid on Jim Haslett but his team has obviously bought into just about everything he's preaching. We'll see how long this lasts but right now it's fun to watch the Rams play. They'll make their share of mistakes but they're now battling through ... ***I completely respect the job that Gary Pinkel has done at Mizzou, both on and off the field. But, I continue to scratch my head about the Tigers' short yardage offense. There's no reason in the world that Chase Daniel can't take a snap under center with a fullback and halfback behind him and smaller offensive line splits in goal line situations. Saturday night's game against Okie State unfolds in a different manner if Mizzou bangs it in fro... It's a fair question. I suspect the BIg 12 is as good as any conference at the top. I THINK Mizzou and Oklahoma are as good as anyone in the country. It's just a guess at this point though because it's early October and so much of the season is ahead of us. Oklahoma hasn't played anybody yet so I'm looking forward to seeing the OU-Texas game Saturday. And while Mizzou does have one quality win on the resume(beating Illinois), the Tigers will ... |
