Final Thoughts on Scott Linehan

2:30 PM Mon, Sep 29, 2008 |

Scott Linehan was told he was out as head coach in a face to face meeting at Chip Rosenbloom's hotel suite last night. This morning, he and his family went to Rams Park to say their goodbyes and pack things up. Linehan met with his coaches(minus Halsett) and then spoke to his players. Even Haslett, no fan of Linehan's, admitted Scott did a great job speaking to the players.

I'm not surprised Scott handled things as well as he did. I e...

What To Expect From Haslett

2:11 PM Mon, Sep 29, 2008 |

For those that don't know much about Jim Haslett, let me fill you in. He was an All American defensive end at Division 2 Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He set a school record with 20 sacks his senior season. He was dominant enough to be inducted into the College Hall of Fame and become a second round draft choice of the Buffalo Bills. He started at middle linebacker as a rookie in 1979 and played eight seasons in the NFL. He was known a...

Changes for Rams Now, Cards Later?

5:31 PM Wed, Sep 24, 2008 |

Why not Trent Green right now? Scott Linehan HAS to try something. And if Trent's presence on the field Sunday is as good as it was at the podium today, the offense may move the ball. How big would a first possession touchdown be? What would it be like for the Rams to play with a lead? Hey, my dad taught me to dream big if I was going to dream. If the Rams win the toss, I hope Linehan will take the ball. It was ridiculous to open the season at...

No More "Winnable" Games

5:09 PM Mon, Sep 22, 2008 |

I made the mistake, sadly, of believing the game at Seattle was winnable--if the Rams cleaned up their act and began to play better football. I won't make that mistake again. I've seen enough poor play and disfunction to think there are no winnable games on the schedule. Not the way this team is playing.

If and when the Rams decide to put four good quarters together, then I'll reconsider. But to have been outscored by 87 points in thr...

Change at Rams Park?

3:50 PM Wed, Sep 17, 2008 |

I'm not a big fan of speculating about a head coach or manager's future. Never have been. Maybe it's the former athlete in me that believes ultimately it's up to the players to make plays and carry out game plans. D'Marco Farr and Jim Hanifan and I have talked about this at great length in recent days on Rams Rush Hour on My 103.3. They, like me, think the players need to share the responsibility for the miserable start.

That said, the...

Rams Debacle

9:33 PM Sun, Sep 07, 2008 |

How else can I describe the most inept game the Rams have played on both sides of the ball in years. I don't get it and neither do guys like Jim Hanifan and D'Marco Farr who saw every workout in Wisconsin. A troubling start considering how lifeless and uninspired the Rams looked.

My two biggest concerns heading into the season were the o-line and the secondary. Both units were flat out awful today. The Eagles played back up receive...

Rams-Eagles

7:51 PM Thu, Sep 04, 2008 |

Is Sunday's opener a game the Rams SHOULD win? No. Is it a game they CAN win? Yes. But only if they avoid what killed them in the opener last season--turnovers. There will be limited margin for error in this game and most games in 2008.

The two biggest unknowns for the Rams are how good Steven Jackson can be in the opener and how Orlando Pace bounces back from two seasons worth of injuries.

The biggest question mark for the...
