July 2008 ArchivesRams new Offensive Coordinator Al Saunders has big plans for Steven Jackson and he may be able to implement them. But for now it may be a backfield by committee. Rams Prez Jay Zygmunt just said the team has made Steven its final offer and will now begin fining him for every day of camp he misses. This is not the way Scott Linehan wanted to open camp in a make or break year. I'm told that we could expect a lengthy holdout based on what ... I have zero sympathy for the suspended Claude Wroten or for the Rams. First, let's say what is painfully obvious by now: it's more important to Claude to get high or to get drunk or do whatever got him supended than to play football. And that's okay. This is America. We are free to make choices even if they're self--destructive. But, we also have to live with our choices and Wroten should not be allowed to continue his career here in... The 2007-2008 Cardinals haven't met a deficit they can't overcome. Some skeptics might say, given the bullpen issues, they also haven't had a lead that they can't cough up but the bottom line is that this team believes it can and will win. And that's why Cards' management is obligated to explore every possible trade deadline deal that makes sense and doesn't compromise the future. This team has battled mega-adversity and injury and is going to... I really love this time of year. Baseball games start taking on more and more meaning and football season is about to open. 2008 will be my 11th season on the Rams broadcast team and my ninth season doing play by play. I've been fortunate that my boss here at KMOV, Allan Cohen, has always supported and encouraged my role on Rams radio. Does it make sense for him to support it? Yes, but he's gone above and beyond at times. I'll always appreciat... Despite an admission by Rams owner Chip Rosenbloom that he has enlisted the help of a firm to take inquiries from prospective owners, a source close to the situation tells me the Rams are likely no closer to being sold than they were two months ago. But the number of legitimate suitors has grown significantly. But, although a sale is inevitable due to financial concerns, nothing is likely to be finalized before the end of the upcoming season. ... Four years after being traded by the Rams, Kurt Warner is still helping the area out. He'll be back this weekend to help Roland Williams conduct a camp and appear at his foundation's fundraiser. And Kurt will be signing autographs Saturday morning at 10:30 at West County Mall to help raise money for the Midwest Flood Relief Fund. So if you want to see Kurt and get an autograph and help people in need, head to the mall on Saturday. I feel for Mark Mulder. I really do. He must be at wit's end. But, enough is enough. Can the Cardinals finally get the message and move on? The fantasy about Mulder making some sort of heroic return to the rotation should now be over. Mulder didn't make it through the first inning tonight at Philadelphia. The replay on a pick off throw to first did seem to reveal an issue with Mulder's shoulder. So, can we be grown ups here and stop fa... I am aware that Alex Rodriguez' wife has filed for divorce. That tidbit hasn't escaped me. But the story has not been in my sportscasts. And won't be unless A-Rod is accused of illegal behavior or his baseball career abruptly ends. My job is to report what Alex Rodriguez does on the field not what he does off the field. I don't care what he does in his personal life. That's for shows like TMZ (pure garbage) and Entertainment Tonight. ... Tiger Woods is one of ESPN's nominees for Male Athlete of the Year at the ESPYS. Is there any other choice? No. And yes, apparently. The nomination has some other professional athletes and ESPN personalities questioning whether golfers are really athletes. For full disclosure, I am a golf fan and love to play and practice the game as often I can. That said, I don't necessarily think you have to be an athletically gifted person to be a ... |
