March 2007 Archives***I'm told what punter Matt Turk wants from the Rams is reasonable. IF--IF that is true then the Rams are playing with fire by letting him shop the market. The guy had the best net punting average in the Rams' 12 seasons here. But, the organization has never believed in paying punters. And, not surprisingly, the position has been a mess more often than not. ***I have to believe SIU's Chris Lowery is going to get a lucrative offer ... ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER HALF DOZEN TEAMS SCREAMING ABOUT LACK OF RESPECT. Sure, Missouri State has a beef but I think the Bears had a better case last year. MSU went 0-5 against the top two teams in the Valley, SIU and Creighton. And Creighton beat the Bears by 17 in the Valley Tournament. Teams on the bubble heading into conference tournaments need to make a run or suffer exclusion on selection Sunday. I think Drexel has the biggest beef with ... ***With SLU fighting just to get an NIT bid, imagine how much better they'd be if Blake Ahearn were in the Bills' backcourt. SLU would be an NCAA tourney team with his leadership, decision making and free throw shooting. ***The most overlooked prep team in the area--the Nashville boys hoops team. 33-0 heading into the elite 8 and ranked number one in Class A. (okay so "area" is a little bit of a stretch but Nashville IS in our viewing... AS EXPECTED, SOME NFL TEAMS ARE OVERPAYING FOR FREE AGENTS. The prime example is the seven year, 50 million dollar deal Dallas gave offensive lineman Leonard Davis. The former number two overall pick was a major bust in Phoenix. He's been part of a terrible offensive line situation that helped cost Kurt Warner his starting job. The only shot that Davis has to make an impact is if he plays guard. He isn't nearly athletic enough to play tackle. ... |
