October 2005 ArchivesMany observers are starting to write off Mike Martz for 2006 after he and John Shaw spoke on Monday. Not so fast Mike tells me. On Wednesday, Mike told me on the record that his goal is to return in 2006 and that his agent is talking with John Shaw about a resolution not a departure. Martz admits he has issues with Team President Jay Zygmunt but says those issues can be resolved. Martz goes on to say that those problems aren't unique to the Ra... The Rams find themselves in a "must win" situation Sunday against the Saints. They cannot fall to 2-5 and realistically hope to battle back to make the playoffs. Not with the meat of the schedule still ahead....The Saints will try to pound the ball at the Rams. They had success running against the Falcons stingy defense last week. They must be licking their chops to face the Rams defense that has surrendered an average of 42 points per game i... This will be Mike Martz' most difficult Sunday in his coaching career. He's not going to know what to do with himself watching the game. I hope somebody leaves him alone and closes the door behind him. It may be a blessing--if the Rams play well and Steve Fairchild does a solid job calling the plays. It might convince Martz that he can delegate even more game day responsibility.
