GEE...THANKS CONGRESS. I GUESS.

4:19 AM Thu, Feb 05, 2009 |

It's official - the deadline for the conversion to Digital TV has been delayed until June. Now you get to hear 4 more months of those annoying commercials, and of course, endless blathering by me! :) Here's the official story:

If you're still watching T-V on an analog signal, your set won't go black this month. The House has just passed a Senate bill that will give you four extra months to switch to a digital transmitter.
Supporters argued more than six million people, including many elderly, poor
and disabled Americans, would've lost service without the delay.
Republicans, who opposed it, say the government had already given people years
to prepare for the switch.
President Obama is expected to sign the legislation.
The new date for the death of analog is June 12th.

So I read your previous blog post saying you aren't switching over at feb 19 date but I was watching kmov tonight watching the big bang theory and the scrolling text below mentioned the june date but still said they were switching in feb. What's the deal, did they forget to update the entire text or have you guys changed stances?

KMOV cannot think they are ready. I get a full signal from KSDK, KDNL, KTVI, KPLR, KETC and even WRBU but no signal at all on KMOV. Maybe you can use the 4 months to actually get ready on your end! What is your transmitter powered by hamsters?

So far, I've invested about $200 in boxes and antennas in this government-madated boondogle. And my reception of all digital stations here in Manchester is sporadic at best -- except for channel 4; it simply doesn't exist as far as my scanners and antennae can tell. Who is really behind this? Charter Cable?

Those remaining ill prepared for the transition will remain ill prepared until the trigger is pulled. Get those insipid scrolling messages off of my television. I did not purchase a big screen plasma and invest in HD technology in order to have a third of the screen covered up by yesterday's news.
