Based on the number of emails still coming in to my inbox, a large number of you have missed our repeated warnings about the changes that took place on January 19th. If you've lost our KMOV signal, BE PATIENT! We have been forced to temporarily reduce power to our DIGITAL signal in order to switch UHF frequencies from Ch. 56 to Ch. 24. This was not our choice, but a change mandated by the FCC. Slowly - over the next four weeks or so - we will increase power until we are back to 1-million watts. Until then, you will need to re-scan your converter box or digital tuner every week or so until the signal reaches you.
Ultimately your picture will be better than ever, because the new frequency provides a wider bandwidth. In other words those who struggled to get a solid picture before, will be better off with the new signal - eventually. By February 1st, we'll be back to 50% power, which should reach 90% of our viewers. If you live a long distance from St. Louis, it may take longer before you receive a good signal again. Thanks for your patience!

I did not miss your repeated warnings and did re-scan. My TV's with converter boxes and outside antenna are working fairly well. However, my new HD TV's with new antennas lost all my channels after the scan. I was able to get them back, but not KMOV. Prior to your upgrade I had your station on all my TV's. I will not re-scan every week and continue to lose my other channels in an attempt to maybe get your signal. Why is KMOV the only station with this problem? I will miss my Channel 4 programming.
Hello,
After reading your statement about the power level I understand why I haven't been able to get your station at all, even though I did do a new scan on Monday. I only live in Breckenridge so I am not that far from your station. But my question...why does the screen go through periods of being scrambled on the other stations when I do have both a converter box and bought new antena's especially for HDTV? I look forward to your answer which hopefully will give a better understanding to this whole mess. Thank you,
Dona
In information I heard about rescan Monday KMOV made it sound like if you live within 50 miles there would be no problem viewing after the re-scan. Thursday night is our favorite primetime TV lineup all on KMOV as well as your news. We live in Kirkwood and even though I rescanned Monday we had the worst signal to date on Thurs evening. It was so bad we couldn't follow the episodes and gave up watching altogether. I would like to suggest a calendar on your website of dates these primetime shows may be caught in the rerun season. I'm a huge CSI-Las Vegas and 11th hour fan. I hope the signal returns to full strength soon.
thanks, jb
thats bull
How awful. I'm now getting the "Larry Rice Channel" on 4.2. And the picture is totally worthless on KMOV. Great. HDTV was supposed to be better, and this is where our money went? No thanks. Cya.
What channel will you broadcast on after Feb 17? Will you go back to channel 4 sometime and abandon channel 24?
Your answer effects what kind of antenna I will buy.
I live in Florissant and have been receiving your signal using an indoor antenna to my DTV. I rescanned on 1/19 and got the new signal, but have since lost it. Is this due to the changes you are making? When should I get it back?
if i have no cable can i use my old converter boxes i had with satelite instead of buying a conveter box or antenna.
I could receive Channel 4.1 before january 19th now it gets pixilated a lot but I think like before it will be better after feb. I got a pretty good signal before the power drop so after it returns to normal I should get a real strong signal. paul Hicks I am 6 miles north of potosi in washington county on highway 185
We are in Kirkwood and have our set up all taken care of and have all the other local channels but don't have KMOV. I rescan every day hoping to get a new picture. No luck. Any idea when? Or is February 1 the best I can get?
I DIN'T LOSE THE SIGNAL! I THINK DTV SUCKS AND IS UNNECESSARY! THE RECEPTION SUCKS! AND YOU CAN'T RECORD ANYTHING UNLESS YOU HAVE THE TV ON THE SAME CHANNEL HELLO! WHAT IS THE POINT? I LIKE TO RECORD AND WATCH SOMETHING ELSE ON TV. I SEE NO NEW IMPROVEMENTS WHEN IT COMES TO THIS. DTV SUCKS! I THINK GOVERNMENT SHOULD SEND ME MONEY AND A PERSON TO PUT THE ATENNA ON THE ROOF. THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL!
I install a Terrestrial DB8 multidirectional HDTV antenna with the conerter box on my old TV and the only chanel I can receive is #30. I have tried everthing and nothing works. Im only 50 miles west of St. Louis but all the Satellite systems demands that I have Paducah Ky. stations as my local chanels. Is this the end of my over the air St. Louis stations???? I remove my old over the air antenna thinking that everthing would work, should have knowing better.
Thanks, Joe
My T.V's with converter boxes and Digital T.V. with rabbit ears get 4.1; my HDTV with a roof antenna does not get 4.1. I live in DesPeres. What is this all about?
I live in Rhineland, MO, a tiny town just north of Hermann(wine country). I work at the RadioShack in Hermann, we have had many, many questions concerning the switch. While info posted on the web, your station and other stations are very informative, out here in "small town" America it does not totaly apply. In most cases people in our area using antenna's have in the past chosen to watch St. Louis broadcasting or broadcasting from the west, such as Jefferson City and Columbia. I have been very faithful with News 4 in the morning , we had to install a new antenna to be able to watch KMOV, and start my day off right.(We live on top of a hill) Others are not so lucky, lots have installed new antennas with no luck. My main question is where can we find the correct information for small town America? I'm sure we are not the only area in the USA with this problem. Any help would be appreciated.
You keep asking if we are ready for the change over. My question is KMOVTV ready. I nagged my husband to connect the box. He did. We were getting you just fine and you had to change now we can not get KMOVTV. Oh wait we did get News 4 last evening today nothing. We live in O'Fallon, MO. So when are you going to be ready and at full power? I agree with Lisa this is all unnecessary. I am fast becoming a FOX News person (Channel 2).
My question is, even after you have increased the signal strength by 50%, why is the reception so erratic? I live in the Creve Coeur area and Wednesday night the signal strength for 4.1 was 9 on a scale from 1 to 10. But tonight (Thursday) the signal strength was only 2. I do not understand the inconsistent signal strengths?? Prior to your channel change I never had a problem with reception.
My outside antenna is a DB-8 from Antennas Direct with an amplifier to help boost the signals.
Hope things will improve
I installed the converter box and the channel would come and go up until this week. Now all of a sudden I can't get channel 4 at all. What's the deal?
Anybody seen this one?
After a KMOV change, I did a rescan and came up with a digital 4.1 and a 4.2.
I also have a 24.1 KNLC-HD and a 24.2 named RES.
KMOV-SD 4.2 and 24.1 KNLC-HD are the ame channel.
A rescan produces the same results.????????
We have installed our converter box, the 200 dollar digital anntena and the right cable to our house - we even have and anntena booster but we still do not have channel 4. I am getting tired of rescanning every Monday for the last 6 weeks. We live in Carlyle, Ill. and we get channel 5,2,8,9,11,13,24,30,46 but no channel 4. DOES CBS KNOW HOW BAD YOU ALL HAVE MESSED THIS UP?????
Are you going to be on channel 4 when you come back or are you ever going to come back? Where do I get some answers?
HELP
It is march 3 still have only intermittent signal.how soon will we have full power?
Ditto to what others have said. Two different types of tuners and two different types of antennas, and still no KMOV. What's the deal with your signal?
i agree with every one here, when is this going to be resolved. my wife and i have to go over to a relatives house just to watch our favorite CBS shows. i think every one agrees with me here that we have all spent a small fortune on items that the goverment should have provide to us for "NO COST". when are you going to get everything back on line using full strength.
According to your website, you were suppose to have full power on March 1st and on March 1st I had your signal, but since Wednesday, I cannot get anything. I am tired of rescanning my channels everyday and I am extremely tired of missing the CBS programming (do they know how many willing viewers cannot watch their programs??) I get every other St. Louis station just fine, so I know it is not my equipment or location. Is this it, is channel 4 still working on their end?? An update on the website would be nice for those of us who cannot watch channel 4.
