ST. MARTINS, Mo. (AP) -- Authorities have charged a 15-year-old with first-degree murder for the death of 9-year-old girl in central Missouri.
Cole County Juvenile Court Administrator Michael Couty said Saturday that the 15-year-old is being detained for the death of Elizabeth Olten. Police did not release the teen's gender or name.

St. Louis city: Critical shooting

A 24 year old man was shot and is in critical condition at an area hospital. The incident took place at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Tucker in downtown St. Louis. The victim was in a vehicle with friends traveling north on Tucker when another vehicle pulled along side them and began firing shots. The victim was shot in the head. Shrewsbury: Three alarm apartment fire

Shortly before 8 am a fire broke out at the Rivercrest apartments located at 7077 Nottingham in Shrewsbury. All residents were able to escape the building without injury. The fire quickly reached 3 alarms. Fire crews from St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Webster Groves, Maplewood, Richmond Heights, Affton and Kirkwood all assisted Shrewsbury. Mt. Vernon: Homicide

Police are looking for a 23 year old Robert F. Lash in connection with an early morning homicide that occurred in Mt Vernon, Illinois. Lash is a black male, approx. 6'3, 210 pounds. He is thought to be driving a maroon colored 1981 Oldsmobile coupe. Authorities believe he could be headed torward Carbondale. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mt.
