Terry Cancila: May 2009 ArchivesA 22 year old male was shot in the 4600 block of Natural Bridge just after 1am. The victim had just driven away from a gas station when a dark colored SUV carrying five black males pulled up next to him and opened fire. After being shot in the knee the victim lost control of his vehicle and struck a traffic signal. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening wounds. The investigation is ongoing. ...A Domino's pizza delivery driver was assaulted late Friday night while making a delivery in the 4400 block of Athlone in north city. The attacker struck the driver in the head with a metal rod and took the pizza. The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver works at the same Dominos where the owner of the business was shot in the leg during a robbery on Thursday. Police do not believe the incidents are related... On Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 3:11PM, St. Louis County Police responded to the 9100 block of Villaridge Court for a report of an auto fire. The 25 year old driver struck a stop sign when she turned to check on her 3 year old in the seat behind her. She believed the 3 year old was choking. Upon striking the pole, the 1998 Mercury Sable caught on fire. The driver was able to get the 3 year old out of the vehicle and was badly burned trying ... St. Louis police are reporting a police involved shooting at Cherokee and Texas in south city. The police officer involved was not injured. The male suspect in the incident was shot in the knee. His injury is not life threatening. We'll update this story as more information becomes available. Just before 8 pm last night city police responded to a shooting in the 4100 block of St. Louis Avenue. Police found, in a vehicle, a 15 year old male shot to death and a 54 year old male shot in the head. The deceased has been identified as Brion Kimble of the 4000 block of Aldine. The second victim was taken to an area hospital and is in critical but stable condition. Police say a vehicle drove by and began firing shots in the victims' ca... Just after 4:40 this morning there was a fatal vehicle accident at Delmar and Skinker. According to police a white van traveling westbound on Delmar struck a Nissan Ultima traveling southbound on Skinker. The 28 year old male driver of the van was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Ultima, 46 year old Clyde Okain of the 2100 block of McPherson was dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. ...
At 12:01 am three people traveling in a vehicle on East Linton in north city were shot at multiple times. One of the passengers, a 20 year old male, was struck in the chest and thigh. He was driven to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition. The other victims, who were unharmed, could not provide a description of the suspects or where the shots came from. The investigation is ongoing. ...The Missouri Water Patrol pulled a body from the Mississippi river near Portage Des Sioux just after 1pm today. The person has not yet been identified. The deceased is described as a white male in his late twenties with facial hair, wearing black jeans and tennis shoes. The St. Charles County Sheriff's department is investigating. ...
Shortly after 11:30 am police repsonded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Montclair in north St. Louis city. upon arrival they found a 49 year old man shot on his front porch. According to the victim he was standing outside when a dark vehicle with tinted windows drove by and opened fire. Right now police have no motive or suspects. ...
A 23 year old woman was killed in an accident early this morning at Kingshighway and Delmar in north St. Louis city. Ebony Minnis and three passengers were traveling west on Delmar when two vehicles traveling north on Kingshighway ran a red light and struck her car. Minnis was pronounced dead at the scene. All three passengers in her vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to area hospitals. One of the driver's of the other vehicles... [FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL] - On Saturday May 9, 2009, at about 10:30 p.m. a shooting occurred near the intersection of South Ruby Lane and Longacre Drive in Fairview Heights. At 10:45 pm police responded to a shooting in the 4700 block of West Florissant. Upon arrival police discovered a 20 year old female shot in the buttock and abdomen and a 20 year old male shot once in the cheek. Both are listed in critical condition. Police say the two victims were driving and once they reached their destination a minivan pulled up and opened fire. Police have no suspects. The investigation is ongoing. ...
ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- Police in Alton say charges are expected in the weekend slaying of a 23-year-old man they believe was gunned down while pressing a group to leave his rental home. JERSEYVILLE, Ill.
