(KMOV) -- Police are investigating a deadly shooting in north St. Louis.

Anthony Wideman, 19, was killed around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday near the corner of 20th and Gano.

Police say Wideman and two friends were in an area known for drug activity when they were approached by a black male.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A third East St. Louis teenager has been charged in the severe beating of a mentally challenged adult relative.

The 13-year-old girl was charged as a juvenile Wednesday with aggravated battery of a disabled person after turning herself in.

Soulard: Innocent bystander shot

(KMOV) -- Police are still piecing together details from a shooting in Soulard on Tuesday night.


The incident appears to involve an innocent bystander.


Investigators say a 57-year-old man heard gunshots as he was heading to his front door and seconds later was shot in the back.


It happened around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the 2700 block of Allen.

It happened Monday night in the 2700 hundred block of Kinamore in Jennings.


Investigators say the officer was visiting his girlfriend when her ex-boyfriend showed up.

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- An assistant fire chief in southern Illinois has been jailed without bond after being accused by federal grand jurors of child pornography.

DELHI, Ill. (AP) -- A 33-year-old southern Illinois woman is facing public indecency charges after authorities say they found her bartending in the buff at a Delhi tavern.

The Jersey County State's Attorney's office says sheriff's deputies were doing a routine check at the Cabin Tavern one afternoon this week when they found something not-so-routine. Authorities allege Janet Brannon of East Alton was naked as she served patrons.

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Police say an 18-year-old who was four months pregnant was fatally shot Friday night on the city's north side.

According to police, Rosheena Frenchie died after she was shot in the chest in the 1700 block of Belle Glade Avenue in The Ville neighborhood.

Doctors at a St. Louis hospital performed an emergency cesarean section on Frenchie, but were unable to save the baby.

Fenton: Suspected drunk driver arrested after injuring construction worker

(KMOV) -- A construction worker was injured after being hit by a piece of debris near Fenton.


Police arrested a suspected drunk driver for barreling through a construction zone and injuring that worker.


It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 near Bowles Avenue.


The construction foreman chased down the driver and stayed with him until police arrived.

Galesburg: Bi-state killing spree suspect indicted in last 4 deaths

GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) -- The man suspected in a June killing spree that left eight people dead in Illinois and Missouri is facing more first-degree murder charges.

University City: Pregnant woman found beaten to death

(KMOV) -- University City police continue to investigate the murder of a woman that was three-months pregnant.


According to police, Shamika Herman, 21, was found beaten to death in the 700 block of Plymouth around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday a man's body was discovered at 6th and Hickory.


Police believe the man may have been homeless.

Investigators say that the four people seen in the video from West County Mall are suspected of trying to use a stolen credit card.

The card was reportedly stolen from a woman outside the T.J. Maxx store on Olive.

According to police, two men tried to hold up a bar called Pooh's Corner.

(KMOV) -- Police have released the identity of a man who was shot and killed on Tuesday.

It happened around noon in the 6000 block of Grimshaw in north St. Louis.

Police tell News 4 that Christopher Roy, 32, was shot in the head and chest.

He was dead when police arrived on the scene.

Police say three men were involved in the shooting.

Alton: Man shot to death on city street

ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- Police in the Metro East say they've made two arrests in a weekend shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead on an Alton street.

Alton police Lieutenant David Hayes says a third suspect in the slaying early Sunday of Marvin Steward remains at large.

The suspects' names haven't been released because charges haven't been filed.

St. Louis: 8 car break-ins in Lafayette Square in one night

Eight cars were broken into in the Lafayette Square neighborhood on Monday night.

That matches the total for that neighborhood for the entire month of August.
