St. Louis, MO: James Orick was indicted on multiple counts of possession of child pornography, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap announced today.
Orick, 19, Pacific, MO, was indicted by a federal grand jury July 30, on seven felony counts of possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges that he possessed images containing children under the age of eighteen engaged in sexually explicit conduct, on his computer between July and September 2008. He was arraigned in federal court Monday afternoon.
If convicted, each charges carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.
Reap commended the work on the case by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, St. Louis County Police Department, the Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group; and Assistant United States Attorney Robert Livergood, who is handling the case for the U.S. Attorneys Office.
The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
