News release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's office Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer would like to warn local businesses in Jefferson County to be on the lookout for counterfeit $100 bills that are being passed. There have been several $100 counterfeit bills that have been passed in northern Jefferson County at local businesses. These bills are actually $5 bills that have been washed and made to look like $100 bills. When checked with the counterfeit pen, they will pass without a problem since they are real bills just not the correct amount. Instead of using the pen, there are several ways to distinguish if the bill is counterfeit. One of these alternatives include holding the bill up to the light and looking for the Lincoln face in lower right corner, this is a water mark that will only show in the light. Another alternative to the pen is to hold the bill up to the light and look for a strip in the bill that will say US Five Dollars; again this will only show in the light. Local businesses need to be on the lookout for any of these counterfeit bills and possible suspects. Possible suspects can be identified as two white males with brown hair with no approximate age. If you have any information concerning these counterfeit bills or any possible suspects please contact Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 636-797-5515. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
