News release from the U. S. Attorney's office St. Louis, MO: Wade Jeffrey Stevens was indicted on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, Acting United States Attorney Michael W. Reap and Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney John Richards announced today. Stevens, 45, Truxton, MO, was indicted by a federal grand jury May 14, 2009, on one felony count of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Stevens appeared in federal court earlier today. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000. Reap commended the work on the case by the Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and Assistant United States Attorney Ray Meyer, who is handling the case for the United States Attorney's Office. The charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. |
