Potosi: Woman to be tried in death of toddler

10:51 AM Thu, Jun 18, 2009 |

POTOSI, Mo. (AP) -- A 22-year-old eastern Missouri woman will go to trial on charges related to the death of her 17-month-old daughter.
A judge ruled Tuesday that the case against Jaimee Kelly Scott of rural Bismarck could move forward. Arraignment will be July 20. She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The child's father, 21-year-old Ricardo Medina, is charged with abuse of a child resulting in death.
Authorities were called on April 1 and told the child had been seriously injured and taken to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis. She died a few days later at the hospital.
Scott's attorney said during Tuesday's hearing that the woman was herself abused and tried to stop Medina from hurting the child.

If this woman did do this to her child she should be locked away. Anyone who can hurt a defenseless child is crazy. I hope this trial is speedy and the right person(s) are convicted. She has accused the father for abusing her and says he was the one abusing the baby. I don't know about anyone else but for me if someone was abusing me I can guarantee they wouldn't do the same to my child. I would have to leave then when it comes to my child, that baby is something that she carried for 9 months she should have never been able to hurt her baby or even watch her child be hurt.

Thi swas alfull and should have nevr happen. She had plety of chances to leave him. She knew what he was like. She had to many place around here she could have went. The fist time a man abused one of my kids he would have been dead or if I was that scared of him I would have been out the door.
