ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis police board is suing a towing company for what it says is hundreds of thousands of dollars owed to the department and the city. In November, the Board of Police Commissioners demanded that St. Louis Metropolitan Towing, LLC, pay $453,508 owed to the department and St. Louis. The unpaid money was discovered in a department review of towing records. A man who answered the phone at Metropolitan Towing said the company had no comment. The department ended its relationship with Metropolitan in July after police revealed that the firm allowed many officers -- and former Police Chief Joe Mokwa's daughter -- to borrow the seized vehicles. Mokwa retired amid concerns raised by the scandal. The company's tow lot has been the subject of raids by the FBI. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. Doesn't surprise me, tow companies are usually ran by scum. People who make money off of other peoples misfortunes by charging ridiculous fees that are usually involuntary. I mean who does that? What a scam!
MMMM looks like the former Cheif needs to be held accountable, not the tow company. Yes the both were at fault but he made a deal with the Cheif he was in charge at the time so get him.
