A POLICE OFFICER'S PLEA FOR HELP

I'm turning this blog over to Police Corporal Scott Barthelmass.

For years, St. Louis reporters and photographers for all news sources ... have worked with Scott. He represents the highest standards for a Public Information Officer ... beginning with integrity. Over the years, he has always proven helpful ... providing what information he could ... in a timely ma...

CHIEF MOKWA: INNOCENT VICTIM OR GUILTY .. OF WHAT?

Chief Joseph J. Mokwa ends a 37 year career with the St. Louis Police Department.

He started as a rookie on the streets in February 1971 ... and rose through the ranks to Chief of Police on May 11, 2001.

That's just one of the cases involving Aimie and cars fr...

A firefighter and paramedic are often in dangerous situations ... but normally, they are not intentionally targeted.

That changed this day in Maplewood. Firefighter/paramedic Rya...

8:35 PM Mon, Jul 14, 2008 |

The first time I drove into St. Louis ... two things made a permanent impression on me.

It was 1975, and I was driving up to begin my job with Channel 4. I rounded that curve on Interstate 55, and in the distance, I saw sunlight bouncing off the Arch. I rounded another curve and saw the Anheuser Busch brewery.

Within days I made certain that I went up in the Arch and took the brewery tour. I didn't want to be one of those ...

TWO HEARTBREAKING TRAGEDIES

I just finished anchoring our 5pm news and am still saddened by two stories.

One story was a very personal, touching interview with Kim Dorsey .. the mother of 18 year old Jessica Uhl and 13 Kelli Uhl. They were killed when their car was hit by a speeding Illinois Highway Patrolman the day after Thanksgiving.
I'll come back to that story in a m...
