Will It Rain On The 4th Of July?

10:01 PM Wed, Jul 01, 2009 |

The bottom line: I have the St. Louis area with an 80% chance of storms between Midnight and Noon on Saturday and a 40% chance of isolated storms after Noon. But here's more details...

Morning: Scattered Rain Likely
If you're heading to the VP Parade at 10AM, be prepared that there is a chance of rain, but you'll be happy to know that the forecast models seem to show the heaviest rain before 9AM.

Afternoon & Evening: Isolated Storms Pop Up
Then, in the afternoon new storms pop up in response to a nearby warm front and potentially any outflow boundaries from the morning storms. These afternoon storms will be isolated to widely scattered, so we're not expecting a blanket of rain in the afternoon. By the time the Fireworks go off Saturday night a few spotty storms may still linger, though most of those Saturday night storms should be very hit-or-miss, thus rain chances are low. But you can always check in with us on News4, kmov.com or even our radar and lightning map on kmov.com/mobile (works great on blackberrys and iphones).

Make sure to check in here or on News4 for further updates.
