January 2009 ArchivesWarmer weather is on the way just in time for the weekend. As things finally settle down after a very busy week here in the 4Warn Storm Center, I figured we might have a little fun. One of my fellow morning warriors here on KMOV's News4 This Morning crew sent this to me. I thought some of you might enjoy it as well. Have a great weekend, and enjoy these children's science exam answers... -4Warn Meteorologist Matt Cham...
Sorry but it's true. I know it can be a major hardship for a lot of folks but I just love it. In my mind if it's going to be cold I would just as soon have snow. Maybe that has something to do with having just returned from my 18th trip to the Steamboat Weather Summit in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They get some serious snow out there. I remember being there a few years back when they received over 24 inches of snow one Thurs... The St. Louis area is abuzz over what will almost certainly be our most significant winter storm of the season so far. We're closely monitoring a storm system as it develops to our southwest. Cold, Breezy and some flurries or a light snow. That's the quick and dirty forecast for Tueaday's Presidential Inauguration in Washington D.C. Morning temperatures will be in the mid to upper 20s but it will feel like the teens with a breeze from the Northwest. As for the weather here in St. Louis, it won't be a whole lot different. My forecast low for Friday is -1 with wind chills of 0 to -10. The last ... Two fronts will slide across Missouri and Illinois this week, and that means two separate shots of very cold Canadian air. The second front will usher in the coldest air of the season so far, possibly the coldest air in several years. Front #1 arrives Monday evening. It looks like it will be blowing through between 7:00 PM and Midnight. Temperatures will climb into the 40s ahead of the front, but highs behind the front will only be ... He'd say something like "This seven-day forecast has more twists and turns that the Tilt-A-Whirl at the State Fair!" The progressive weather pattern setting up across the United States will throw some fast-paced ups and downs in our direction over the next seven days. The rapid changes can be hard to keep up with, so let's break down the week ahead... Today (Thursday) Friday evening in the Storm Center - An interesting pattern developing over the next few days. A real nice warm-up on Saturday. We may not hit the high for the day until after sunset as warm, humid air continues to stream in from the southwest all day. The price we pay is a chance for spotty rain showers. Most of the rain should be light with less than 1/10 of an inch of accumulation in most areas. On Sunday ours winds will have shifte... |
