As of 3:00 Saturday afternoon (1/13/07) we await the onslaught of yet another wave of freezing rain and sleet. It seems, sometimes, as if St. Louis is right on the rain snow line in these events and this one is certainly no exception. A drive down highways 40 and 70 from west to east reveals quite a different scene. In St. Charles and western St. Louis County trees are laden with a thick, heavy coating of ice. Closer to the city and into the metro east the ice is not as thick although certainly still evident. As more ice accumulates Saturday night and Sunday I fully expect additional power outages. To add insult to injury winds will increase Sunday night and Monday, likely causing more braches to snap and threaten even more power lines. My suggestions? Keep your cell phone and lap top computer on the charger so that if you lose power you''ll have the freshest possible battery. Get caught up on showers and laundry if you heat your water with electricity. Of course you should stay tuned to News 4 and KMOV.com for all the latest. As usual, I'll be here all weekend. |
