In the world of odd-news blogging, one comes across many extraordinary feats of stupidity - a fact that's led this blogger to believe there are more hapless, half-witted doofs out there than one can shake a stick at. This is especially true for drunks who are busted driving things that aren't cars. There was the guy accused of driving a riding lawn mower through a fast-food drive-thru after a few too many, and the guy who got a DWI for riding a horse, and who could forget the genius accused of drunkenly scooting along on a motorized bar stool? But this man - this Dennis LeRoy Anderson of Minnesota - has secured his place in the comical transportation division of the Weird World Hall of Fame. That's because Dennis LeRoy Anderson got caught by the cops driving drunk in a motorized La-Z-Boy recliner.
I'll give you a moment to let that sink in ... ... Nice, huh? The Associated Press reports that Anderson was arrested after downing eight or nine brewskis, hopping on his recliner and crashing into a parked vehicle without injury. TaaDaaa! But Anderson's ride wasn't just any old La-Z-Boy. Police said the chair was powered by a converted lawnmower and was equipped with a stereo and cup holders. (Chicks dig it.) Anderson eventually pled guilty to the charge and was given two years probation for his antics. The fate of the chair was - tragically - not clear. |
