Burglary victim gives hapless crook a karmic wedgie

It's common knowledge that crime doesn't pay. But sometimes crime not only doesn't pay, it gives you a karmic wedgie and steals your lunch money, too.

Consider the sad story of Victor Martin.

Victor broke into an apartment in Brooklyn and made off with a cool $200.

Great success, right? Guess again.

He may have gotten away with some cash, but he left his wallet at the scene, the New York Post reports.

And that's when things got really weird.

Victor actually returned to the home and knocked on the tenant's window.

"There was someone knocking on my window, and I asked him, 'What do you want? Why are you here?' And he said, he told me, 'I left my wallet inside your house,'" burglary victim Yaakov Kanelsky told The Post.

Uhhhh ... why?

"He told me he needed to use the bathroom," Kanelsky told The Post.

Armed with the knowledge that his bathroom wasn't taking visitors that day and this burglar was full of ... well ... you know, Kanelsky called 911.

But the bumbling burglar wasn't giving up. He shouted through the door that he'd trade Kanelsky his stolen cash for the wallet, flashing the wad of pills through the peephole.

Kanelsky, who until that point had no idea his cash was missing, went to his bedroom and found the burglar's sunglasses and a wallet filled with cards, cash and pictures.

Kanelsky told the burglar to give up the dough, so he diligently began sliding bills, one by one, under the apartment's front door.

That's when the cops showed up.

Teeheehee.

Victor ran and was nabbed in a nearby yard, sans cash, wallet and dignity.

Great story! It reminds to a similar 'dumb robber' case which happened here in Delta BC. A young lady bought new tires for her pickup truck. The tires were sitting in the back of her truck with her name written on it. She parked at a marina parking lot and when she came back, the tires were gone. A few hours later she parked at a shopping mall, beside another pickup truck, which had 4 new tires in the back - with her name written on it. She phoned police, who came and simply waited untill the owner of the pickup truck showed up...
