Taking bows to the NEXT LEVEL

If you find a reception venue with gorgeous chairs, you’ve lucked out.
If you find a reception venue with OK-looking chairs, I still think that’s awesome.
The chairs at the Hotel Derek are more like chairs you sit in during boring meetings: a smattering of dark colors meant to hide any and all stains. Everything else about this place is amazingly cool, so I’ve still hit the sweetness jackpot, but OMG chair covers are just something I didn’t think I’d need to consider.

Find the differences in these pictures. Then call me.

Things I learned on the hunt to hide green/blue/metal chairs:

1) Going to a bridal extravaganza can totally pay off: If you go, make sure you sign up with all of the vendors so they know you saw them. I got nearly half off the price of every chair cover because of it. And when you have 200 chairs to cover, that means hundreds of dollars saved.

2) Brainstorm: Don’t walk in there with no ideas whatsoever. Check out pictures of real weddings, look through magazines – I wasn’t at Distinctive Details for very long, but I felt underprepared.

3) Be flexible: So they didn’t have a dusty rose-colored sash to tie around the chair. No biggie. As long as it’s not 10 shades away from your color, don’t flip. You’re likely to have several shades of blue, pink, green in your wedding, so this is just another one.

4) Swatches, swatches, swatches: The swatches Elyse at DD gave me have been pulled out and shown to other vendors more than you know. Accept any and all swatch offerings no matter WHAT you’re doing.

OK now can we please pick if the pink bow on our chairs should be long or short? I can’t decide. Matt says long. I am growing weary of being the decider*, so please help.

*This will not last very long.

I like the long one better as well.

I agree with Matt, go long. As much as I like the wrapped around look, I like the long better.

I would pick the long one. It looks much better.

I like the long too! FYI, I know a couple in Beaumont who bought their chair covers from Vietnam. It's a champagne color... would that even work for you, or just white?

I think both chairs look good, but i like the long bow better. The other one just looks like a knot.

Definitely Long!

Long. I can totally see you getting married at Hotel Derek. And to a lawyer...I love it!

Oh, and we haven't decided where we are moving yet...we won't officially be moving out of the houston area until August. Chicago, Denver or Dallas.

Your guess is as good as mine at this point! :)

p.s. I can never read the stinkin security code on here.

I really prefer the long. I know I'm not in your wedding party, but I'm good enough for Taylor, that has to say something right??? Ha!

You definitely don't have to be in my wedding party to weigh in! Plus, you are probably a rock star since you're in her wedding.

I am going to start making readers choose everything from now on. This is awesome.

long. and better tied.

Longer is simpler, and with so many chairs, simpler means it won't look busy. So, my vote is longer.

You should let readers choose! Instead of the Today show, it will be the "KHOU" wedding. One of your coworkers could do a live feed on the internet to your wedding. I'd better stop giving you these crazy ideas.

I don't like the way the "Today" show wedding turned out, even if it was thrown by my inspiration -- Martha Stewart. Orange! Yikes.

Yeah, no more crazy ideas, meggles.
