Four hours: That's how long it took to complete part 1 of the invitation assembly process. I should have roped in a bored bridesmaid to help, but I feel too guilty asking for anything this far in advance of the wedding. Look at that! I took that picture on my cell just so I could send it to Matt with a, "Aren't you glad you're NOT here?" message. Those little bands did not come folded, and making those work was the most irritating part of the job. I was a champ though, sweating through it while chugging water (but not letting droplets touch the ecru goodness) and wishing I'd splurged on some of that pink stuff you put on your fingers when you're sorting paper. Best splurge ever: Next on the invitation journey: Hitting up every post office within 15 miles and buying out all wedding-themed stamps. The postage could cost as much as the invitations themselves, but I know I won't see a single RSVP unless they're already stamped. What happens if the USPS raises postal rates again, though? Maybe I should hold out on stamping the RSVPs, or I could just put the unromantic "forever" stamp on them. Is that wrong? TrackBackTrackBack URL for this entry: |

It's not wrong, I won't hold a "forever" stamp against you. Anybody who does needs to find something to do with themselves because they obviously have too much time and energy!
They look really pretty! Nice work. I would've helped you with them if I wasn't so far away. :(
PS I would've never guessed what the bone folder thing was if you hadn't explained it. Gotta love Martha, always thinking of the tiny details.
Stamp prices are going up! I remembered an email about it, but I found the info for you:
On May 12 we will adjust prices for mailing services — First-Class Mail, Standard Mail, Periodicals, Package Services, and Special Services. The average increase by class of mail is at or below the rate of inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index.
A First-Class Mail stamp will be 42¢. Customers can continue to use the Forever Stamps that they purchased prior to May 12 at 41¢, even after the price change. We will have 5 billion Forever Stamps in stock to meet increased demand before the price change. Forever Stamps are widely available through Post Offices, Contract Postal Units, consignment locations, Automated Postage Centers, vending, and at The Postal Store®. We also will have a 62¢ stamp available shortly after May 12 for 1-ounce nonmachinable First-Class Mail letters, such as square greeting cards.
Yours truly just spent a good hour sticking "forever" stamps onto RSVP cards and completing the inner-envelope stuffage.
Where did you get those invitations? I'm just researching them right now...drooling over letterpress although fully aware that they're way too expensive.
On a side note, we should have a date set this week!
OMG THE KECK IS BACK!!!
My invites are from www.theamericanwedding.com. I guess this is the kind of thing I'd include in a blog entry if I wasn't such a newbie. Now I know.
Don't forget to send your photog a copy of the invite for picture purposes.
