December 2007 ArchivesMillions of presents are bought each year, but some women would argue the best present they've received this Christmas is a shiny engagement ring. Thanks to the Facebook, I know several friends and acquaintances who were proposed to sometime this week. I'm sure more are to come; they just haven't got to the Internet. Yet. So you've got the rock - now what? ...There are many enjoyable things about preparing for one's wedding, but squeezing into a sample size wedding dress is not one of them. Not for me at least. I know I'm not the only bride-to-be who feels the pressure to drop the pounds. But never was that feeling more suffocating than when I stood in front of a chipper woman holding the dress of my dreams in a size I more readily associate with me circa 1993. ...Only this could happen to me. I psyched myself up for my once-in-a-zillion years trip to Whataburger (it is really rare that I eat out for lunch), and seconds after I order, my cell rings. Me: "Hello?" Wedding gods: 1, Adrienne: big, fat 0 ...Wedding experts often suggest that weepy individuals tuck a tissue in their dress in case they get emotional during their nuptials. But this is a bit much --
Lovebirds Jennifer Cannon and Doy Nichols of Lexington, Ky., plan to get hitched Wednesday in a public restroom.
