Hi Darby –

Do you know what's wrong with the railroad crossing on Richmond near Weslayan? It seems like every time it rains the crossings go down indefinitely and no one is able to cross, even though there's no train. Definitely caused some bad delays last night, but this isn’t the first time it's happened.

How can we find out details about upcoming 290 construction and/or plans for improvement?
Currently carpooling from Hwy 290 / Barker Cypress to Downtown and we are all considering selling our homes to move in closer because of the horrible commute. New home construction (i.e. Bridgeland) will make it even worse in the upcoming years.

Hi,

I am new to this town and one thing I have realized moving here from Austin is that the traffic is horrible here. Currently, I am living of 290 and Jones Road in a temp housing and I work at 290 and 610 (takes me about 1 hr during evening commute). I am looking at buying a house around here and traffic congestion from work to home is on the top of my list to consider. What would be the best scenario for me?

1) 10 towards Katy

2) 45 towards Woodlands/Spring

3) 290 towards Cypress.

Dear Darby,

My husband and I recently moved to Brenham from Arizona. We have to travel to Houston three to four times per month to Mid-Town Surgical on Jackson Street. We come in on 290 and have learned the 290 HOV lane. My question is, when we leave the surgical center where do we connect to the 290 HOV heading out of Houston? Houston traffic is very intimidating to me since I am the one who has to drive home after my husband has a surgical procedure, and I would like to find an easier way to get back home.
