Michelle Ponto: November 2008 ArchivesNovember 27, 2008 Classics never die - at least that's what the designer of Chaplon Clothing said last night at his second annual fashion show. With dramatic music and a fog of smoke, the models at the second annual Classics Never Die Fashion show took to the catwalk. The trendy show, which was held in the Venue, attracted hundreds of people who were anticipating the designers new collection. Check out the fashions. November 22, 2008 It was a night full of fine art, fabulous food and great conversation as over 300 art lovers and artists gathered at Hotel ZaZa on Saturday night. They were celebrating the Art League's 60th anniversary. The night also honored Melissa Miller as the 2008 Texas Artist of the Year and Ann and James Harithas as Texas' Patrons of the Year. November 21, 2008 The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Tejano Committee hosted its annual Fashion Show and Dance on Friday night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Festive music was provided by La Sombra with special guests, Sunny Sauceda and Baraja de Oro. Check out the slideshow. November 13, 2008 Now in its 13th year, the 'Men of Style' dinner and fashion show honors the top ten men in Houston who have not only shown a sense of style, but also a dedication to the community. Presented by Let the Fashions Begin, Inc. and New York Life Insurance Company, proceeds from the annual event go towards finding a cure for sickle cell disease and benefit the Texas Children's Sickle Cell Center and Sickle Cell Patients. Check out Houston's most stylish men. November 13, 2008 After the Latin Grammy Awards show, there were parties everywhere throughout the city. But there was only one "official" after party...and that is one put on by the Academy. While the event was filled with Latin singers, actors and other celebrities, it was the music that made the night memorable. Check out the slideshow. November 13, 2008 The Latin Grammy Awards ceremony was an incredible experience. 11 News reporter Rosa Flores was there and said that the music, culture and passion of the Latinos who attended the Toyota Center was magical. "I could feel every beat and the energy of the fans," said Flores. "From my seat I got to see it all. Sharing an evening with the hottest and most talented Latino artists of my time was a magical experience." Sponsored by Heineken Premium Light, the event included music by Frankie Needles, Johnny Famolari and Norty Cotto. But what made the event special was the location. The Zune Mansion in Houston is a privately owned home that Kinetix Integrated Communications designed to replicate the Zune Mansion in Los Angeles. The lunch was attended by nearly 700 people, and raised funds and awareness about the growing problem - and what could be done about it. Check out the slideshow. November 11, 2008 The Recording Academy® Texas Chapter hosted a Latin GRAMMY® party to celebrate the biggest names in Latin music at Houston 's brand new House of Blues. Guests enjoyed appetizers, cocktails and live performances by Chente Barrera, Obie Bermúdez , Paula DeAnda, Frankie J, Little Joe Hernandez, Stefani Montiel, Jennifer Peña, Ruben Ramos and Sunny Sauceda, as well as special guest appearances. Check out the red-carpet slideshow. ...November 1, 2008 Seven thousand people attended the Beach Boys Concert in Galveston on November 1. Opening for the Beach Boys were a couple of popular local bands: The Intercoastal Pirates and The Coastliners. A portion of ticket proceeds were donated to the United Way of Galveston. The concert raised over $40,000, and Galveston's Underground Surf Depot also donated a surf board that The Beach Boys autographed. It was auctioned off at the end of the night. November 1, 2008 Houston's 2008 Pawparazzi Ball took place at Hotel ZaZa on November 1 -- and it did not involve the paparazzi getting together to snap shots of Angelina and Brad Pitt. The Pawparazzi Ball was a fundraiser held by the Houston Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. ... |
