I have no words to describe the intensity of the excitement in the air about tonights event. Delegates from every state are so excited and untied behind the ticket. The press would like Republicans to be split much like the Dems but I see no evidence of that.

The excitement is bouncing off the walls. Pete Olson had just arrived at his watch party at Berryhill Restaurant in Sugarland. There were cheers and chants - people yelling..Pete, Pete, Pete. In the early returns, Olson is beating former short term Congresswoman Shelly Sekula Gibbs by about 3 to 1.

The polls have been closed for over an hour now and Shelly Sekula Gibbs is doubtless taking a much needed breather. She made all 12 scheduled campaign appearances today at area polling places. Her campaign manager C.B. Currier updates her spending to 1.3 million for this campaign. Some $280,000 of it is her own money.
Here at Mamacita's, a popular Mexican restaurant in Webster, supporters are showing up. The candidate herself is expected by 9p.m. Supporters expect her biggest fight to be in Fort Bend county, home to opponent Pete Olson.

Shelley Sekula Gibbs and Pete Olson have found very little to agree, especially when it comes to who is best to be the Republican nominee for the 22nd Congressional District. The two runoff candidates for the nomination squared off again in a debate, this time in Clear Lake.

It took until 2:29 a.m., but all of the votes have been counted in the Harris County Republican primary. That's 7 1/2 hours after the polls closed.
But that's early compared to the Democrats, who are still 233 precincts away from calling it an election.
There's no telling when we will get final results.

Folks waiting to participate in the Democratic primary at the Nimitz High School polling location had to call out sheriff's deputies early Wednesday morning, when a frustrated election/precinct judge apparently couldn't handle the huge crowds and just walked off the job.
Nimitz was the polling location for 8 Democratic voting precincts.
