Among the crowds at Hillary's Houston Watch Party is a group of 10 or so older ladies. They have flown in from all over the country to knock on doors, work polls and phones. Their loyalty to the former first lady spans 50 years. These are the veteran members of Hillary's childhood brigade.
These foot soldiers went to school with the Senator. Some were classmates with her from kindergarten through high school. This week they have left their families or jobs to campaign for the woman they say showed leadership on the playground.
They vouch f...

Hillary Clinton's local supporters are now filling up her Watch Party as precinct caucuses begin to finish up. We are hearing anywhere from 100 - 500 people showing up at various caucuses. In the past perhaps half a dozen people would attend.
All this is new to most Texans and may be causing problems. In Precinct 202, some 90% of caucus voters reportedly did not write down the name of the candidate they support. Many left after writing down only their name and address. Clinton campaign staffers tell us that invalidates the vote. Some people repor...

Hillary's Houston Watch Party doesn't officially begin for a few more minutes, but the crowd is thin. Less than 2 dozen supporters sit at a few tables here at the Home Plate restaurant downtown. Where have all the supporters gone? To the precinct caucuses.
Air 11 pictures show long lines of people waiting to get into their caucuses. Clinton's campaign wants them to stay exactly where they are. The folks here at the party are out-of-towners. Volunteers who flew in from Boston, New Orleans and other cities. Even the Mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama drop...

Those were really the daughters of Ed Emmett in one of his campaign commercials.
I caught up with the two sisters at the watch party for their father at the Westin Hotel on Alabama in the Galleria.
Adrienne Gordon and her sister Patricia Emmett said they shot the commericial in Dallas last month.
"We got a phone call saying coome to Dallas to shoot a commercial for your dad," Adrienne said. "So we went."
If you haven't seen the commericial, it goes something like this: The sisters come dow...

Home Plate, the sports bar across the street from Minute Maid Park has seen many a close contest for the Houston Astros. Tonight Clinton supporters will be watching a huge political contest and hoping the Senator from New York comes out ahead.
The most recent polls show Hillary Clinton edging back slightly into the lead while Obama's camp is backing down from strong victory language. We were with Clinton's campaign in Austin last night for her final big rally. A lot of women were in the crowd and Ana-Jo Mounce told us she has a strong base with middl...

Gwen Emmett is a straight shooter.
And she apparently doesn't like to waste time.
Ememtt is the wife of incumbent Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, who' s trying to keep his job permanently. (He was appointed to the position almost a year ago.)
As soon as Mrs. Emmet walked into the Monarch Room at the Galleria Westin, (the one on Alabama) she walked up to me and said hello.
So I seized the moment.
Just how does the wife of candidate in a heated race spend the day?
Campaigning, of course.<...

The democratic party is no stranger to Hollywood.
But it's not often that you see it in Houston.
This morning Hollywood landed in the East End in the the form of two television actors married to each other.
Ted Danson of "Cheers," Becker," and lately, "Damages" a show on FX, was with his wife today, actress Mary Steenburgen. You may remember her from the CBS series "Joan of Acardia." This Hollywood couple was here campaigning for Sen. Hillary Clinton.
"We are doing everything we can to support our candidate we love so much," ...

I admit it.
It was not the most thought provoking question.
But at least it got Sen. Hillary Clinton's attention.
She was in town at Henderson Elementary School to visit with voters and of course the media. I got up at 4:30 a.m. (on this marathon of an election day, mind you; many of us are working a double shift) to cover this event. I was told she would be at the polling place by 7 a.m.
She arrived at 9:15 a.m.
She visited with students from Henderson Elementary and signed some autographs, too.
And then she s...

Austin - The crowds are cheering, waving cellphones, and clapping madly. It is the political campaign turned part rock concert. Tonight's star has yet to appear. Senator Hillary Clinton must still make her way from crosstown where she appeared earlier in a "Texas Townhall Meeting" streamed on her website and broadcast on cable.
The chants here began at 8pm and are deafening. Everyone knows the polls open in less than 12 hours and everyone knows what is at stake. The Berger Activity Center which holds 55-hundred is perhaps two-thirds full. Tickets are required, but were free...

Austin
As we pulled into Austin, there were few signs off the major freeways of the presidential primary. We spotted one lonely Obama placard in a residential neighborhood as we navigated our way to the Berger Activity Center. The stadium for area high school students seats about 55 hundred according to local police.
Outside in the cold blustery weather were 2 lines. One for volunteers streamed about 70 long. The other for press was shorter, but filled with cameras, tripods, batteries, lights, laptops and other gear. Security was tight. Everyone's bag was inspecte...
