DeLay on Obama: He's a 'Marxist'

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay may no longer be walking the halls of Capitol Hill, but that hasn't stopped him from inserting himself into the 2008 presidential election.

DeLay, the Sugar Land Republican who resigned from office two years ago, referred to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama as a Marxist, "unless he proves me wrong," during an interview with nationally syndicated radio talk show host Mike Gallagher, which is heard on Houston radio station 1070 KNTH.

In a report, first published online in a blog of The Hill, a Capitol Hill tabloid, the former congressman said that Obama's biggest weakness was that no one knows who he is. He also said that the Democrats' new standard-bearer is "desperately trying to cover up what seems to be the kind of old-school Marxist, radical, liberal-failed ideology."
DeLay, who still faces money-laundering charges connected to campaign donations through a political action committee, now runs a Conservative think-tank in Washington.
DeLay was also critical of the current status of the Republican Party and John McCain's ability to beat Obama in the fall in the radio interview.

I think in this day and age, with gas prices rising, a costly war in Iraq, the shrinking of the dollar, a failing economy and guys like DeLay ignoring the public trust and stuffing their own pockets, committing crimes while in public office, maybe its time to give an "old-school Marxist, radical, liberal" like Obama a shot at it, seems the conservatives over there in DeLay's "think tank" failed us miserably....and I thought of that all by myself in my own "think tank"...and it was free....

Wake Up Call?
Obama's rise should be a real wake up call to the run of the mill politico's who offer no representation to the voters of America. This election as I view it has little to do with the candidates but rather is, an expression of millions of voters frustration with the mission of our present political leaders. Over the years, congress has spent all of it's efforts on strenghtening laws. All of the politico's boast on their web sites of their law making efforts but when we write an email to guys like, Ted Poe, we get no response. It's easy to call Obama a "Marxist" but nothing the run of the mill politico says will change the result of this years election. The people have risen by the power of the vote and are declaring, "Down with the Old"

As for a discussion about Obama, he’s not a Marxist. DeLay is far more flawed. DeLay’s criticism is that we don’t know who Obama is, but we do know Delay. We have had 8 years to know GWBush. Looks like we are much more comfortable getting to know Obama than keeping DeLay or Bush – time will tell.

As for the Marx bit…
One of my favorite quotes is Marx’s, “The philosophers have sought to interpret the world. The point is, however, to change it.” I certainly don’t ascribe to Marx’s political actions or theories; and, what Lenin, Stalin, and others did in their claim of Marxism has claimed countless lives and caused vast suffering. In that same time period, our own capitalistic system and exploitation, often with no social sense of social justice, has been damaging as well. Any discussion of Marxism is tainted with the evil of those “damned reds.” While we need not minimize the past reality of a communist threat or desire for world revolution (more so immediately after WW2 – not so much by the Vietnam era), let’s not give the hedonistic, winner-takes-it-all, capitalistic ideals a pass. Stalin once said that they would sell us (the capitalists) the rope by which we would hang ourselves, and that we would happily buy it. Stalin may have a special place reserved in hell, but look at China & tell me how he was wrong?

Obama IS a Marxist and everyone in Illinois ( including me) knows it!
All you have to do is look at the kind of company he keeps; Jerimiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Louis Farrakahn - and his favorite refrain: "redistribution of wealth"
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (or needs) is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program. The phrase summarizes the idea that, under a communist system, every person shall produce to the best of one's ability in accordance with one's talent, and each person shall receive the fruits of this production in accordance with one's need, irrespective of what one has produced. This is exactly what Obama is and will continue to support and promote - THE MARXIST DOCTRINE!
